I know the main focus right now is battle system/ mounts and 1.18 stuff but to give a head up to dev i would like to bring a point that have been bothering me for a while.
Why does every quest/npc treat you like a beginner or a anoying wanderer. would it hurt so much to have some recognition from the lore? here is a comparison that i could bring up with Aion online (mmo that i played for a brief time)
FFXIV carpenter quest: you got to try to be as good as the kids at being a carpenter
Aion online typical quest: you assend to be the most powerfull warrior ever
FFXIV typicaly NPC: "get out of here scrub you have no buisness here"
Aion online tpical NPC: "holly cow! its shinigami in person, this battle gonna make history, everyone take heart shinigami is here!!!!"
Im no psychological expert but i know 1 thing: recognition is one very important aspect that drives players to play MMO so please stop threating us like scrub, stop making mob that laugh at us with overpowerfullness. i feel better when they run away from me instead.
Having some garlean forces run away at the only sight of me would make me feel much better than having some random ally save my "weak person" from certain death.
In resume i want to be a hero in that game not a weakling

I would expect your character to be a scrub at the start of the games storyline. Sorry but you don't just become a superstar overnight.

bah im cool with your oppinion guys im a very democratic guy. but im just telling, i played aion online (quite briefly) , when you start youre really a scrub but some NPC's tell you that you gonna be one of the best at one point so you know, i tought it was pretty nice. Beside i dont have the feeling that at cap 100 the lore gonna change, same way it didnt in ffxi. I dont ask to be a superstar right away but a little bit recognition wouldnt hurt. Thats my oppinion anyway there is not much to discuss about oppinion, its quite at the liking of every individual

FFXI followed the same trend for the most part. You were a nobody who had nothing better to do, and even after stopping the plot of two zilart bothers, fighting a twilight god, and doing your nation storyline, you were still a nobody who had nothing better to do. TAU kind of had recognition from several NPCs, but aside from that you're just a random adventurer to everyone else.

It did change in XI, the more fame you got in the cities by doing quests and stuff the more popular you were among the npcs in Jeuno, etc.

only thing that annoys me, similar to this is when NPC's dont seem to know you after you have just finished a quest with them from something else. Like doing the main scenario quests. You meet the same NPC in a sidequest and they think you have never seen them before.
