Going for my 5th Relic as we speak!
While I wouldn't consider this that fun, it's something.

I'll just say before you jump ship or form a definitive opinion get your relic weapon and experience some coil. If anything (and this sounds bad) when the game adds more content you'll be more prepared to jump back in. And who knows, you might find a reason to keep logging in with coil.
The game right now has a LOT of content, the issue with people getting bored at this point in the game has more to do with the fact that this content isn't "New". Having tons of paint is great, having tons of colors of paint is great, but anyone would get bored of painting after awhile. On the bright side, since the ground work has been finished, it really is all up hill from this point on, especially since this game charges sub fee's which is a great way to increase production value.
Your approach to MMOs is very modern. It follows this sort of pattern. Get the game-----> Get Max LvL -----> Get BiS Gear ------> Do end game content ------> Bored.
Older MMO players. Get the game -----> Find some friends ------> Get lost ------> Gain some LvLs -----> Get more friends -----> Save the world ------> Get some gil for FC housing ------> Do some crazy theorycrafting -----> Get some Gear ------> Get more levels -----> Run some dungeons in cloth -----> Get some BiS ------> Farm some gil ------> Make some crazy bets with all your friends ------> Endless list as long as you have an endless mindset. Its not a linear pattern, it goes around in circles.
MMOs are being approached incorrectly these days. You can expect to see the first approach to MMOs across all MMO forums atm.
No. I have plenty to do.
I'm pretty sure you just listed what you would do in a MMO which is strictly based on yourself. Also its hard to get "lost" in this game when it offers little to get lost in and if you mean get lost in the zones, well if you get lost in those tiny little zones I don't know what to say.
5th relic here i come... jesus, where was the so called "content" again that was fun to play?
I just got my second relic, and I still have so much I want to do, and I know I'm not going to have time to finish it all.
So if you're bored, sucks for you. There are some really good games coming out or already out for 3DS. I fully recommend them.
*Raises hand*
The game needs some kind of gripping, repeatable content to keep players engaged. *stares at PvP*
I mean, I've got nothing against PvE, but stringing out myths and spreading already thin end-game content across 8 job isn't exactly a recipe for success, it's a stopgap measure at best.
Here's hoping Frontline is good, and comes out before everyone up and cancels their subs.
I find it funny when people are blasted for reaching max level so quickly in FFXIV. I thought this game was designed for just that purpose.
No matter what MMO I play, I always take ages to level. That's just my playstyle... but even I can admit that this game has some of the fastest leveling I have ever experienced. I take solace in the fact that there will probably be quite a bit of new content available once I finally hit endgame.
I'm not bored, and that's because I don't dedicate myself completely to this game. I play every once in a while, sometimes letting the girlfriend hop on as well. I only just now got my retainers, and I've had the game for a month. Not too shabby. By the time I'm 30 FC housing should be out :P
Most of my fun comes from the social aspect, anyway. Its important to me to find an FC with a good group of people who actually do things and try to remain active as a community rather than hardcore raider completionists.
No, just you.
Oh this id love to hear... Allright i'll bite... what is there? Level other jobs just to get into the same question thread poses? Do 3rd relic? 4th? 5th? Some people love just sticking to one class. Leveling other classes as an excuse for content is just a carrot on a stick really.. so what else is there?
Crafting?! Oh yes crafting! wait.. whats the point of that again? As it seems most of the gear is handed out when a person levels and most relics require a different crafter than youd think when leveling, whats the point? It was great levleing one, but two times is just a bit yawn...
Gathering? Again.. what point? AH is so filled with stuff thats botted that it renders it pretty much pointless...
Im basically just ranting as people think there's tons of real content to do when all it is is rehashing the same stuff/or pointless... (skinner box) i had to say something. But in any case /rant.
I'm still having fun, but that's just because im with friends. :P If they poofed I would too. Thus we see the elephant in the room... and sadly reasons why some zones are "starting" (note: starting) to get less and less populated. Hell, my FC mate that started later is complaining there's hardly anyone to do dungeons anymore.
Well, I have barely given myself any time to roleplay, I want to max out my DoH and at least one DoL, probably more because I'm really digging this crafting system, and most importantly, I want to help my friends and my FC-mates progress to and through endga--
No.
I want to level everything to 50, craft all the AF and the 2 star gear (rose gold, etc), socialize, maybe get relics for everything, coil, socialize, find all minions including blue bird, challenge all dungeons as a trio/duo, socialize, help new players, get some achievements, socialize... That's it for now. Maybe more later.
And that's fine. :P If you enjoy that go for it. All im saying is that theres no "real" content and all you are doing is rehashing the same stuff. I highly doubt you are going to actually grind DL for all those classes you grind out :p But i digress a bit.
But yeah, good on you. Hope you enjoy the game all the way till you leave it. I truly do.
Of course not. But that doesn't really matter, as I wouldn't have the time anyway without quitting my 10-hours-a-day job and going back to live in my mom's basement. I find it a worrying trend that people have to keep having "new" things to keep them occupied - a common predisposition in Generation Y and Millenials (and not that I would presume you're one, but you know...) - or, rather, that they can't find enjoyment in doing something they've already done before, having grown up spoiled on instant and cheap digital media downloads. I mean, did none of you ever have that one movie you watched as a kid over and over because you loved it so much? (I did. It was called The Brave Little Toaster.) It's sort of like that, and if I ever get bored, I won't complain loudly about it - I'll just go find something else to occupy my time.
Yep. I don't even have my full DL gear, or Relic so now I'm having a bit of fun playing the markets. Sorry, not going to repeat the same boring dungeon over and over
16,000 times till I kill myself. I need a break...Granted I only did it a bit lmao. Doing it over on another class is Machismo for me. So whenever, I'll be leveling my LNC for fun and run dungeons a lot whenever I get to 15. |:
The early zones are dead and it's kinda boring.
This game has not much to do that I have to go craft, which I usually hate in most MMO's but actually having a pretty neat time Mining and such.
Going to go ahead and craft other things to 15 for good cross-class skills and probably main doing crafts and meld whenever. -Shrugs;
I am sad that some crafts are pretty much useless because you get handed out gear every 5 levels. Get to 50 and time to be rich. I can't wait.
I'ma just save up my stuff for either buying gear or for a house lol. I just can't grind another dungeon right now.
Bored. /10char
I'm bored off my arse. I've dropped from a few hours a day to a few hours a week. Already canceled the sub and just goofing around til my time expires. From here, it will take a minor miracle to get me deeply involved in the game again.
The game does have a lot of content, but the problem is that it can be burned at such a rapid pace. There are not many roadblocks, or challenges that require time to overcome. That's the games biggest issue really.
I'd say i'm bored with 80% of the game. I basically log on monday to get 200 myth then log on for raid days and that's about it.
I'm a little bored on monday/tuesday after doing coil 1 - 4 and capping Myths.
Though its mainly because there are some players who only log in to do these then you don't see them for the rest of the week.
I'm currently doing 1 level a day for all the gathering classes. Building up my bank, learning what people want/need for the HQ crafts, learning CUL and slowly upping that as I gain the mats from BTN. Main SCH and have BLM at 50 nearly with full Darklight from farming stones. (Though thats pretty boring lol)
I think I need to learn more about crafting tbh. I don't have a clue and I've never been a big crafter, which is sad imo. :)
The problem is that without "infinite content" there WILL be time when u will get maxed out. By "infinite content" i mean different kinds of player competition other than being "first", like pvp (fortunately on 2.1) or content with scoreboards like fastest clear, longest survival, most enemies defeated.
Even if are not maxed on all jobs, the week mostly ends after doing all coil turns that u can and caping myths. With full dl there is no point in more grinding.
Levelling another class might be fun, but constant fate grinding gets tedious fast. Levelling by running "one instance a day" looks somehow fun, but really viable only as tank or healer.
There is something worse. When u get new class to max lvl, u would want to start grinding gear for it. But if u dont already have great gear, almost no one will want to party with u! So that leaves gearing SECONDARY job with ur MAIN job. And this way u dont play that new job at all. So u can only farm with ur new job when it does not need it anymore!
That leaves crafting, gathering and money making, but poor profit without personal housing.
Not bored, I would be "bored" if I did nothing but FATEs ( I don't like FATEs as they are personally), I have a lot of fun with Dungeons/Levequests/Hunting Logs. They get the job done just as good, and I don't have to torture myself!
I'm already super bored of these types of threads can't you come up with some more content in these types of threads I mean I keep having to raiding these threads for troll coins so I can get my cool relic thread armor.
Today I wanted to gain a few more levels in Alchemy. I needed a few more levels in botany and miner to get some mats, so I started by doing that. Then I came to a recipe that needed cotton thread. So I switched to my weaver and played catch up with that. However, I realized I didn't have enough leather for my 6-10 recipes, and needed Hard Leather for one of them. So I switched over to Leatherworker which was plenty high enough to make the mats I needed. Went back to weaver to make my way to cotton thread, and finally back to Alchemist to gain the levels I initially wanted to gain.
Nope, sorry. Not bored.
Not sure if I'm bored of the game, but I play for like 4 hours per week now. Fantastic game, just nothing to actually do in it. Log on tuesday, do turn 1-4, cap my myths in garuda(2-3 hours to do this) then play my 3ds/pokemon for the rest of the week. I've been playing my 3ds/pokemon for the past 3 weeks now, much more enjoyable than this game and a ton more fun, end game in pokemon is a lot more fun than this game, with lots more to do, somehow. Next week my coil group attempts turn5 so maybe I'll play for 6 more hours that week(1 night for turn 1 - > 4, 2 nights of 3x2 on turn 5), but that still isn't much to do.
Game is seriously lacking reasons to get me to log on and want to play. Everything is too fast/easy to get, content patches are taking waaay too long, too much repetitive content at 50, too much time spent on the 1-49 leveling process that's only done ONCE, maybe twice per person, then completely ignored at the level cap. They should've spent all that time on level50 content instead of content that people do 1-2 times, and the content people have to spam only being like 3 dungeons and a single raid. Not a very smart design decision, especially for a game that the producer, Yoshi-P, literally stated "starts at the level cap".
Oh? Then why is the level cap the place with the least amount of content?
I wish I was bored. That would mean I've spent way too long on the game. Alas, work and social obligations limit me to spending only 3-6hrs every weekday, and varied (but usually longer) hours on weekends. In short, no, I'm not bored of the overall game.
Me too. I didn't rush to 50 DoW/M, in fact I have 3 lvl 50's from 1.0 that I haven't even done the Class Quests for. Instead I leveled Arcanist to 30 doing the Main Story Quests on it, got SMN & SCH, then decided I need some nice HQ Melded gear and have been working on all my Crafts since.
I actually enjoy the Crafting/Gathering more than the Battle Classes but I'll get back into it eventually and I still have plenty of Story to go too. And based on alot of the complaining I'm really in no hurry to get to "End Game".
I'm not bored at all.
I came into the game all 50 DoW/H/L from 1.0 and I'm still here, playing nightly as life permits. I love this game -- it's fantastic. Both my accounts (yeah...) paid the 180 days sub.
I *enjoy* the game, so I play it. Not to max everything out. Not to gear it up. Not to clear all the content. Though all of those things are eventual realities. That's really all there is to it. If you enjoy the game, you log in and do *something*, because it's fun!
If your sole reason to play is to level up, BiS, and clear all the content once (totally valid playstyle, btw) I can *totally* see how you would be bored. Maybe you should unsub -- come back for 2.1, 2.2, etc. Or perhaps this isn't the game for you?
No, he is right. If you play a MMORPG and do only of aspect of the game, then you can't complain that at some point you will run out of that THAT aspect to do. It's like when you buy M&M only for the yellow ones,, then send a complaint to the factory because you're disappoint for have ran out of green M&M.
You rush for things by your own choice. You get burned out for doing the same thing day after day by your own choice.
I'm not. I only play some three days per week.
1 aspect of the game= 1 Job level to 50/get gear for job/Coil
"Game starts at 50" wasn't meant to be taken literally... Personally. (Do you like how the producer intended the game to be?) From all your posts it doesn't even sound like it. That's fine, question is, why are you still subbed if you hate it? Or do you? quite frankly I'm confused atm.
Exactly what #5 said :)
nope, not bored
