Weaver help, please?

Ok, wondering if some kind, knowledgeable soul can help me. Ive been struggling to HQ linen cloth for a while now. I am lvl 42 weaver, and my old routine to HQ stuff - inner quiet > waste not > steady hand > standard touchx5 > standard synth - just doesnt seem to work on stuff this high lvl and above. Can anyone please kindly tell me if there is a new rotation I should use for linen cloth and above? Also I expect I will need a new one for making the actual clothing too, if inner quiet > steady hand> standard touchx5 > rumination > waste not > steady hand > standard synth doesnt work after a certain lvl either.

Try this ...

Inner Quiet, Steady Hand, Waste Not, 5 Hasty Touch, Manipulation, Steady Hand, Waste Not, 4 Hasty Touch, your best touch that CP allows, Synthesis. At 42 you should have sufficient CP for this, if not, upgrade your CP jewelry.

On the two servers I have played on, the market prices for HQ Flax are not much higher than the prices for NQ Flax (maybe 5-25% more, depending on the day). I got through the initial stages of linen weaving by using HQ Flax and then mixing HQ/NQ Flax until I could make HQ Linen Thread with NQ materials.

Everyone seems to have their own preferred method of crafting, but I would suggest using Great Strides whenever you use Standard Touch or Advanced Touch.

GS => ST increases quality by 250% for 70 CP and 10 durability (5 under Waste Not).
ST => ST increases quality by 250% for 76 CP and 20 durability (10 under Waste Not).

The only time GS => ST is not strictly better than 2x ST is when you use GS during a Good or Excellent state, so don't do that.

If you modify the rotation you outlined above to incorporate GS it might look something like:

IQ => GS => SH => WN => ST => GS => ST => ST

This gives you 625% progress, the same as 5x ST. It costs 12 fewer CP and it only uses 15 durability, giving you three additional actions (two touches if you can finish in one synthesis).

Another possible rotation for 40-durability components using Great Strides:

IQ => GS => SH => ST => GS => ST => GS => ST => Synth

Great Strides shines even more for 60- to 80-durability items because synthesis actions allow you to fish for Good or Excellent states to maximize the effect of your touches. If you are crafting a 40-durability item and use Great Strides, most of the time you are going to use a touch action next turn regardless of the item state. If you are crafting a pair of pants, you might use IQ => GS => SH and then, if the item state is Normal, use a synthesis action and hope the state changes to Good or Excellent for your double-quality Standard Touch. Just make sure not to allow the Great Strides buff to expire unused.

Early in a craft you just want successful touches to boost your control via Inner Quiet before using Great Strides once or twice.

A rotation I use for the 40 Durability crafts when I don't want to take extra steps using Hasty Touch is:

Comfort Zone (if you have it) > IQ > SH II > WN.

Basic Touch 3 times while SH and WN are active (using Tricks of the Trade where possible). Should put you at 25 Durability. I wouldn't bother using ST on Good condition here unless you're certain it'll get you 100% quality.

From there, GS > SH > ST (downgrade if CP is tight). GS again, and then spend the rest of your CP fishing for Good/Excellent before finishing with your best touch. Depending on your CP/TotT procs you may only have enough for an Observe or two. If you have more, you could instead refresh Steady Hand/Great Strides before using Observe to get an extra step or two of fishing for a condition proc.

I used to mix and match 1 NQ to 1 HQ so I can HQ the base linen yarn. That allows me to mix and match linen yarns to HQ the linen cloth. To make the end product, I use 2 HQ components and 1 NQ component so I don't use up all my HQ and still be able to HQ the item. That was before I got Steady Hands II. Now I just gamble with Hasty Touch 80% till the last few hundreds, mend, steady hands again, touches with great strides mix. HQ level-appropriated Accessories help a ton.

Although it did happen to me once, but at that point I already had already made multiple HQ stacks of Electrum Ingot, Boar Leather, Undyed Wool, etc. so it didn't really matter.

But all you really need is 5 successful Hasty Touches to get 100% with Byregot's (4 with Innovation) for 100%. Miss one of those 4-5 and you'll still get to around 84%. My method gives you 7 tries.

Hmm ok, I'm working on getting Byregot so I don't know how much it adds yet. Getting Ingenuity II and Innovation are next on my list. Should make leveling other crafts a lot easier than spamming Steady Hands II boosted Hasty Touch like I am now.

I guess I still have a lot of work to do on other crafts before I can do this, hehe :)

I'll add an alternate, simple Hasty Touch to offset my previous no Hasty Touch one, since most of the time Hasty Touch will come out ahead... the RNG just irks me at times.

Basically after Inner Quiet pop Waste Not before Steady Hand (II, if available), then Hasty Touch x 5, which'll put you at 5 Durability. Manipulation > SH > depending on CP you can either Hasty Touch or Basic Touch followed by two Great Stride touches (or if you're low, a non Great Strides ST into a Great Strides touch). On average it boosts control significantly more for those final Great Stride touches off of Inner Quiet due to more touch attempts (Hasty Touch RNG aside), but being unlucky will yield worse results than being unlucky with a non-HT method.

Hasty Touch is usually better if you can't guarantee 100% quality without it, but sometimes it feels like I have to pay more attention to the craft - likely because I have to check CP partway through rather than just at the end to see how many Observes I can use.

I would say get all the crafting classes but armorer to 15 at least then you can continue on weaver to 50 using my method. That's what I did as weaver was my first 50.

If you get all classes to 15 (except ARM), you won't really need to HQ mats to get an HQ finished item while leveling even without Byregot's. However, Steady Hand II is almost a must for that, unless you can stomach a 70% Hasty Touch. WVR was my first 50 and I did it without SHII, but it was a little frustrating. Now it's fairly trivial to level a DoH class.

I may be mistaken (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), but you don't really need Ingenuity II. Ingenuity already brings synths down to 3 even for 2-star items (with Careful Synthesis II). I don't think Ingenuity II drops it down any more.
