Free Company Housing 2.1, your thoughts?

I wanted to get everyone's Idea, on how much Company housing should be for the 3 types of Plots.

Small:?
Medium:?
Large:?

over all I feel Company housing should be a Achievement,
and not just any Free Company should be able to get it's own Company House, easily.

so it shouldn't be too cheap, my thoughts.

Small: 500k
Medium: 2.5Million
Large: 12.5Million


your thoughts?

P.S. also I was wondering will the Plot include the House it's self, or is this something that gets crafted?

I'm not sure if the house comes with it, but they did mention something about crafters being able to craft parts of the house.

As for prices I agree it shouldn't be too cheap. But I disagree with you that lesser Free Companies should be priced out. I don't see why people who don't have as much time to play as the hardcore gamers should be excluded.

Your prices for a small and medium plot are too cheap imo, considering it's for a free company. Large one is a bit too steep though I feel like.

i dont think the house's come with it the way it's gonna work from what i read in the live letter was your paying for the plot of land first threw auctions (hate that) so what ever free comp has the most gil can get it first (people who have been selling titan runs at 500k a pop) + they only have 30 land plots per server till they add more. then you have to buy the house to go on that plot of land from the video yoshi-p payed i think 850k for small house, they might change how much it is when it goes live tho

750K - Small
5M - Medium
10M - Large

Just a quick thought on the matter. Don't know how realistic this is. I have a small Free Company, and we coudln't afford a medium one on this scale. Kind of hoping a medium would be 1.5 million or so. Probably dreaming :)

Really wondering if I should make my own FC of a few friends and I so we can at least use housing before the summer comes. :\

Rather than fix prices. I feeld the prices should scale somehow to the guildmembers.
It's quite a difference gathering 12Million with 200 ppl in comparsion to gathering 12Millioni with 8 ppl

But i guess that's where FF is like everygame. Nice (RP) stuff is mostly only for hardcore (non-rp)playerz~ yay

PS: I say the Medium house will be 850k :P cuz of live letter

I think the small one should be cheap, like 500k, so every free company has the chance to get one. And then the medium one should be about 5 mil and the large one really really expensive, like 50 mil, so only the really rich could have them. Also the large one should be like a castle.

I agree they should be achievements and not entitlements. For the people in small free companies, they should expand or merge if getting a house is a priority for them.

Also I think the house should have to be bought on top of buying the land. Maybe crafted. Either way is fine.

Ridiculous housing / land prices requires equally ridiculous way of obtaning gil.

The economy as it is right now (atleast on legacy worlds) nothing is worth sh!t.
No material that is sellable is rare in any way, wich this game could use more of.

Market will crash if everyone has the same product to sell, and the economy becomes the biggest battleground.
(And right now, most players can make / gather everything themselves, so if lucky...i make some money from the lazy people)

I thought about this also, but then it would take away a spot for a FC that wanted a house.

I also heard that FC rank can effect if you can get a house or not. like if your only rank 1, you may not be able to get a house at all. but I maybe wrong about this.

We saw Yoshi spending 850k building the small house in the last live letter so expect that as a minium for the smallest one.

I would say it will be around this:

Small 850k
Medium 4million
Large 10-14 Million

am I the only one getting Harvest Moon vibes with the housing part of this game.

In Harvest moon you can upgrade your house about three times as well. small, medium, and large. love that SE has put this feature in for different sizes. I hope to own my own house one day ^^

If I remember correctly, you cannot upgrade your house to a larger one. You have to buy the land for a large house to build one. So if you start with a small one, and want a big one, you would have to buy more property.

Anyone know more about that and how it works. Could you buy a large plot of land and plop down a small house? Just curious.

dont forget he maybe lost 850k for the small house..but like someone post and i read too somewhere(forgot where) that you have to buy the land and after buy the house. So what tell us if he bought the land and the house in the video

yeah I think the small house is cheaper than 850k because Yoshi had to buy the land before he could buy the house.

Small: 800k
Medium: 1.6 million
Large: 3.2 million

Having a big house on nice land should feel rewarding and not like something just handed to you. Most of the stuff in ARR is handed to you, so they should make SOMETHING take a lot of effort to get.

Housing costs aren't going to be fixed, there is going to be a sort of real estate system, and costs of plots will fluctuate depending on availability.

not in 2.1. but later on yes.

To be honest I think this entire "housing" thing is a joke and they should be more focused on adding REAL content like more dungeons, more endgame, hardmore versions of dungeons, classes, etc, instead of housing. I mean really people you have a house in real life for a reason, why do you need a house in game?

Yeah because patch 2.1 totally won't have any new dungeons or endgame content.

i hope those are pricing for just the plots of land... it would be a lot more fun to build up the entire house little by little, like you start off with some foundation, and you can start putting up a lv 1 house (that's just a crum bum tent), then progress it with more materials and crafting to a lv 2 house (made of sticks, like a rickety shack), and so on and so forth, til you progress to the piece de resistance house that looks like a celebrity home with marble flooring, persian rugs, exotic animal leather furnishing, indoor fountains, 4 bathrooms with full shower and bath with a toilet AND a bidet, a his and hers vanity sink, etc etc... you know what i mean? it would kinda take longer for casuals to build up to the nice big house, but also feel great to achieve it.

I also hope these are just plot prices. I think it would be good for FC's to have to band together farming raw materials to actually build property. Will feel like much more of an achievement.

That said, I continue to find it strange FC housing is simply normal housing. I would have thought it more appropriate to have the planned housing zones for personal houses only, being a mini town.

That way SE could have created separate themed zones for FC housing so FCs. I would much rather build a castle or keep with my FC in the line of Coerthas, Maybe some FCs might want to roleplay being evil, creating underground lairs etc.

Afterall, once I build a house with my FC, I probably wont care to do the same thing again with my own house. Or, I wont care for my FC one anymore when I can use my own one and decorate it unrestricted.

Building large cannons to point at the neighbors.

I honestly could care less about Free Company housing. Was really excited about housing at first (even started saving up right after launch and set aside over a million gil on a retainer for it). But then found out it's FC housing and not individual housing coming with 2.1... and it'll be over half a year after 2.1 before individual housing might come out last I read.

Kind of bummed that it's not the other way around with individual housing coming out first - but I can see myself still playing by the time housing is fully implemented in-game so I guess it's something to still look forward to even if it will be awhile.

you know they have more then 1 team working on content for FFXIV, and they already have housing planned out. so really no point in complaining.
They also have more hardmodes coming in 2.1, and more jobs later on. so there is nothing to worry about.

and if you don't want housing then you don't have to get housing.
but you'll miss a big part of the game when you can breed your chocobos and make a black chocobo/ faster mount. ;-)

Where is the info about the 30 plots per server, or is that 30 plots per instance?

Didn't they say it's going to be an auction system to buy house plots? That would mean there is no set price for anything, the community would decide how much land is worth.

But... I know a lot of legacy players that could afford to buy a large plot with these recommended numbers. I'm not sure how the economy is doing on new servers, but a player can make a couple hundred thousand gil a day without much effort on my server. If they want the large plot to be an accomplishment, like I think they mentioned, it would need to be more gil than 10-20 people could earn in a day or two.

My ingame lv50 carpenter is nothing to my RL carpenter skills, but they're both fun.

From what I understand...it was 30 plots per instance. 30 plots per server would be insane. I don't see SE intentionally locking out players from housing content by limiting what's available per server. I am personally really looking forward to FC and individual housing and if I am locked out of it because I wasn't fast enough to purchase one I would be really pissed.

Imho, there should be a "free" house, one that is obviously limited in the size, custom options and bonuses. No sense in locking out any players from the idea of a place to call "home" ingame. Maybe a small one room shanty or tent in the slums of Uldah...

There will be personal housing later on that won't cost as much. For these houses in particular, you must have a FC and you must have a certain rank for your FC. Basically meaning that 2M for a small house is normal for a group of players, but more expensive than it should be for a single person.

I think it is 32 plots, and per instance.

I'm thinking of taking out a mortgage at the National Bank of U'ldah just so I can have a chance at putting a down payment on one of these houses
