Add rare mats and recipes.

Not saying to do it by next patch but something in the future. A few examples of what I mean. In ffxi you could get the scorpion claw from a bcnm (boss) and then craft it into the GG tank armor. Or in 1.0 uhad NMs that dropped rare mats for crafts. This would take crafting and the economy to a whole nother level.

I think it's a good idea and from what i've understood, Yoshi and the team wants crafting to be important so it might happen.

Yeah in 1.0 getting a dodore Doublet for crafters was awesome you had to make a group to kill the mob that would only pop at certain weathers and hope he would drop the skin to craft it.

Something like that would be awsome. Would be nice with something "tough" to get - a goal to work towards to get a small advantage.

I was very disappointed that my dodore doublet was nerfed right out of the gates in 2.0 as I had HOPED to at least get a bit of use out of it instead of selling my 2,000,000g body piece for 20k (10% of original value if corrected for currency re-valuation)... Oh well. The crafting AF looks better anyway ;)

Anyway, I'm sure that we can look forward to something like this in the future. They did say that they were going to be putting out new recipes in the near future, perhaps something like this will be among them!

I'd have to agree. I'd be happy even if the end reward was a rare vanity piece without any clear advantage as long as there are some more opportunities to build upon the current crafting system and add some more variety to the game. It's be cool to utilize such things with furniture and the distant housing patch too. I mean, making a "shell" table out of a rare Cancer fate drop or something would be interesting/fun.

Sorry, I should of clarified. Certainly looking forward to the primal drop additions, but hoping for a lot more to be added to the crafting system as a whole.

Yeah I mentioned the dodore Doublet bcus it once was a million gil piece and now it's like 10k. Things like this can produce for the guild bank or let's say coil statics who need a central gil bank to be able to buy foods for runs. Just some ideas. Everyone's ideas would be appreciated.

I certainly want crafting to mean more and be more accessible in the endgame, but I personally have a few caveats. The first is to not tie the acquisition of these materials to dungeon running or rare spawns akin to (H)NMs like FFXI. Dungeons have enough of an edge as is when it comes to outfitting players in high end stuff and limited resource mobs is just an open invitation to RMT and third-party exploitation to guarantee claim and loot. Second point is to avoid new recipes as rare drops. The problem here is they just become something people will "Need" to sell off, even if someone else could've actually used the recipe. If all recipes are not to be auto-learned at the respective level range, than at least implement a system of turning in synthed goods to acquire a crafter specific currency to buy these recipes based solely on your willingness to interact with the economy. No daily/weekly lockouts on this, either. Third point is to naturally involve gathering professions. Let nodes within their given level range have a small chance to spawn certain rare materials that are harder to gather up. As well, all gathering attempts should have a chance at finding treasure maps pointing out some location in the zone where you can initiate a mini-game to find other rare things. Basically, encourage people to be out in the open world more and do not be shy about letting crafted goods meet or even exceed dungeon loot before even factoring in the ludicrous expense of later-tier materia. Until then, a significant number of game mechanics simply risk being considered useless by the community, among them being gil.

Just impliment something like bcnm. Your orb your drop :P.
