Any news about the PS3 version?? I can't wait to play FFXIV on my PS3 :\
no news sorry
Theres a thread a few pages back. The issue needs to be kept alive though, we need -some- information.
Omg yes Release the ps3 version I can not play this game on pc unless the grapic are turned down to like 2 <.< do not have moneys to upgrade
The last bit of info of ps3 was it was "finished and just about ready for testing" then all this ffxiv changes started happening. So far we got told ps3 delayed till further notice till ffxiv for pc was "up to par" wuth a good plan rolling is.
With how many fansites have been acting to the changes, like about the quests. It may not happen soon. I wanted to play ffxiv just for the sole reason as it was an mmorpg, it was going to be open world (lil to no zoning) and it was the first mmo i heard of to use the motion captured tech as seen in the movie avatar(sp?).
I find it funny ppl claim FFxiv isn't inovated or brang nothing new to the mmo scene. I think motion capture tech is new, I only seen very few games have it. And Avatar was one of few movies to use it on the scale it did. The motions and emotes are in my opinion very fluid.
Anyway more info on this will be nice. I bought the pc version but my pc died b4 I could install it. It stinks to look at the Crystal Edition case cover every day :(
We will be lucky to see the PS3 version by 2012. Too much to do in that time.
Let them fix the game first... Seriously.
I think they want to make the ps3 launch as flawless as possible, considering how bad the pc launch went. its essentially their do-over, and the game will be in rough waters if they fail twice.
They can fix it while we have players on the PS3. Lot of people just want to be able to play with their friends, and care less about the state of the game but more about the social aspect and leveling together.
I would gladly buy the PS3 version, but at this point the general masses wont buy into FFXIV because of all the bad rap is has right now. If they update the PC version to everyone's liking, and make the PS3 version come out with that level of acceptance, then they'll do well commercially. Right now, it's not a good idea for SE.
Yeah, no point in making more copies of a game people won't be playing.
I'd guess you're not going to see a ps3 version until the monthly fees are reinstated.
Beside, with the game burned on bluray you can't make so much changes to system as you can on PC, unless the game would be fully installed on HDD.
The PS3 won't be out (not that I'm waiting for it, i have PC ver.) unless this game will get Greatest Comeback award if you know what i mean ;)
Let the dev team work on it (GO Yoshi-P !!) and stop talking about info on PS3 xD You all know it will take months from now on, yet i still see questions like that, starting to get on my nerves.
I would guess that the PS3 release will coincide with the first full size expansion and the start of subscription charges.
The issue, I believe, is that a patch or large update has to go through a lot more red tape to be released on a console. With the amount of patches coming out, at this rate, the next patch would be "ready" before the last patch ever hit the consoles. This would mean that either the PC version would be perpetually one patch ahead (until things slowed down), or that the PC patches would have to be delayed for a synced release. This is the reason that Epic games gave for not allowing cross-platform game play between PC and PS3 and I can see it being a major factor in the choice to delay the PS3 version while the PC version is being renovated.
That being said, I agree with your sentiments, I only bought the PC version as a placeholder to keep my appetite sated until the PS3 build arrived.
You can rest assured that the game will be fully installed on the PS3's HDD, with the (possible) exception of some larger media (like prerendered cinematics). Considering the game weighs in at about 10 GB on the PC, which amounts to a little more than two "normal" PS3 games cache installs.
Anyway, I am not so much interested in an exact date that the PS3 version will be released, dates like that are hard to pin down and all but impossible to hit. What I want is to see the check list (even if it is dynamic) so that we can see where we stand. A lot of my recommendations to friends to play this game is based entirely on having a PS3 port.
FFXI installed completely to disk on both PS2 and Xbox360. The onlything run from the Game Disc was the POL Executable link for the Xbox360. Once the game was installed on the PS2 though you didn't even need the CD in to start the game. (The biggest flaw in the 360 version is requiring the disk be in to play.)
Also they announced that the currently missing genders will be attempted to be ready for the PS3 release.
Also you can install the PS2 client for XI onto the PS3 if you have a backwards compatible system, enough hard drive space, and you download the hard drive configuration tool from PSN.
ya DCUO ps3 version is going through crap, and the pc/ps3 servers are seperate. their valintines day event was a week late and the st patricks day even was a mnth late. I stoped playing because the ppl were blind to issues and jusy being all around rude. That and in the pvp server everyone is on top of each other making it hard ti even level up. (not that its long)
Anyway that is a concern for me. But I hope they can work things out.
I can't wait to play.
Look at the missing gender thread a dev got bck to them with feedback saying that Yoshida and the dec team are going to do their best into putting in the missing genders at ps3 launch.
They wre going to have them as playable races just had no man power to do so, but since they delayed a few games to bring in more ppl that is really no longer the case.

Please keep up with the dev tracker.
I highly doubt anyone here has played DC Universe Online for the PS3, otherwise you would all know what it takes to get an MMO on the PS3. DC Universe Online is suffering greatly from the partnership with SOE that is required in order to run the game. Upon each update the DCUO development team has to pitch their update to SOE. At first the Developers thought "big deal they will trust us", boy were they wrong SOE tore their updates up and made them implement a ton of crap and DCUO developers would have to go restart the update development process. What was supposed to be monthly updates turned into "when ever we can get it out there, sorry". Holiday update content is released in DCUO a month after that said holiday because SOE makes them hold the updates for months.
SOE is the worst thing to happen to console MMO's and i pray that this game never is released on the PS3 :/
I left FFXIV when DCUO came out, and I played it on PS3 (i'm a huge comic nerd so I had to try it), SOE RUINS GAMES.
I'll just say it. They like to make games more mass appeal but in all the wrong ways, I do understand what you're saying about the work it takes to get an mmo on a ps3. Sony delayed DCUO's release for a year because they basically told them "this game is not good enough to come out on ps3" we could be encountering this with FFXIV and SE isn't telling us. Sony could of been like "hey we love you....but this game is kinda crappy right now and I don't think it will make us money...", with DCUO we learned SOE does this.
As far as my argument about SOE ruining games look at Star Wars Galaxies :/
I don't know where I read it, maybe somebody else does, but I believe its worth mentioning that in order to play the game on the PS3 version, you'll need to link a PS3 version key on to your SE account. While this is not a problem for most people, it's kind of annoying for me, because I plan on buying the PS3 version for my wife when it is released. If I ever want to play my account on a PS3, I'd need to buy a second copy to link to my SE account. It won't be like FFXI where as long as its installed you can use your account on any machine.
I may have understood it incorrectly when I was registering.
