Random Acts of kindness

Ok, so sometimes i get bored and read through the forums and all i see is nerf this, nerf that, this is too hard...blame blame blame... So decided to start a thread where you can thank someone that did something nice for you...and i will start:

I want to thank the Miquote (they know who they are) that me and two FC mates ran with (not very often you DF with someone from your own server) in Haukke Manor with us. The tank was new to the instance and learning the rotations and occasionally losing hate, but the Miquote was very sweet and patient with us as we tried teaching our tank the run and rotation. not very often you get decent DF prople

I had a similarly good Hauke Manor tonight. First time as SCH, I'd been practicing cures in fates/etc but no idea to know what pet cures will be like and to not overcure til you do it :)
Everyone was cool and patient, had one death due to a rough pull but otherwise flawless run.

I approve this message.

I had a really pleasant PLD in Qarn earlier. He didn't pull with Shield Lob until I explained the reason why he should. He took all the advice my team offered and made a very noticeable improvement compared to the first couple pulls.

I had a similar experience with my first and only Haukke Manor run. A male Miqote and Lalla from my LS and others from DF patiently did the content with me. I was confused about passages and keys n stuff but I loved it. At the end I did not do my Limit Break correctly because I did not know how to place it or that it needed to be placed, since it was my first time using it. After we left the instance, the Miqo'te patiently explained how the LB worked and we both had a chuckle about my noobness but I was glad to have learned. I was grateful for all the help and kindness. Really want to do more HM runs.

I took so many screenshots from the garden outside. I would eagerly take the Haukke Manor, its decorum and its furnishings plus the All Saint's Wake decorations for my FC housing, kthnx.

3 speed runners got me past amdapor keep my first time there as a fresh 50mnk lol they even marked themselfs so i could follow em in the wall and last boss they were a roegadyn a miqote and a hyur
All rl friends it seems thx to them i got the item requiered for my relic lol

After that i try to help people with less experience
Sure i ran into many crappy and elitist players
But myself i want to help the new people lol

I do my best to help out when i can too, its always better to pay it forward

I don't have any notable experiences to share, but I love the idea of this thread and want to support it!

+1 for any people who hang out around Revenant's Toll and help people with the random fights they need (any relic fight, primal farming, etc). I bump into a lot of these players when I get bored and join runs to help. Players like this are how you turn a server into a community.

Aside from fact I like to chuck myself at DF's for lower level duties now and then and all..

Well, there was a very understanding Castrum Meridanum party last night. Admittedly I'd gathered three friends to go in with for proverbial voting majority, but still the other players were all terribly nice about running with newbies. No shouting at anyone for messing up and pulling enemies they were trying to sneak around, no blitzing ahead while we were watching the cutscenes... I mean it was obvious they were taking the most efficient route but still. The only downside was that White Mage got impatient and quit on us, but at least they had the grace to just leave quietly rather than being rude or abusive about it.

So.. yeah, my first visit to Castrum Meridanum was significantly less awful than I feared it'd be thanks to that lot. Now if I can just muster something similar for the Praetorium >.>

I just started trying to tank and some really nice drg player who mains a tank was very nice. He helped me out a good bit and taught me during the run. The healer and other DD were very patient and kind. I really appreciated it since I have never tanked an instance before.

I was bored with my friends, all 3 of us have full DL + relic, and we said "Let's do Titan for fun!" So guess what, we made a lvl 36 black mage very happy by doing Regular Titan.

I want to thank everyone who plays this game! Each player makes the community more alive and more fun :)

On my first run of Qarn, i had an amazing group of players help me out.
After about our 3rd attempt at the Teratotaur, the second DPS bailed. The tank got in touch with his FC, and got another DPS to join! Everyone in that party was amazing. But what really made me happy was that the DPS that got called in passed on all the loot, just because I was a lower level! I got an amazing Lance too, i'll cherish that item always.^^ It was so nice, I'll never forget that^^ (Both DPS in this party were Dragoons.)

I'd like to thank a lalafell blm I had in AK the other day while teaching a friend who was tanking it for the first time ever. He was very patient, despite being relic'd and in partial myth gear, and even though we wiped on last boss. I know I've had people leave dozens of times when a single person said they were new, so this came as a surprise to me. Thank you everyone who doesn't leave when someone is new, and remains patient with them!

I do this often. Several instances a day. I will select the lower 6 or 7 dungeons and will queue up to help out. I know dps has a hard time getting queues too so sometimes, I'll head to a lower zone and offer to healer queue with them.

Your name + race combo is overpowered OP.

On topic, I generally try to pay it forward in randoms.

Our guild is built upon helping others, its what we love to do. It makes a difference to a lot of people when you are genuine and helpful. A helpful community is a stronger community.

I was doing Aurum Vale for the first time ever (I was a scholar). Only the tank and bard knew what they were doing. They were both really patient. But at the last boss the tank dc'd and never came back. We only had 25 mins left on the clock but instead of abandoning ship both the brd and monk hung out with me til the timer ran out. They were awesome, unfortunately we were on 3 separate servers. This is the one time I've missed Blizzard's real id friend system.

I just recently got the game on October 1st, and I've had some very great patient people as I learned to tank on my Mara, dps as my Arcanist and heal on on my Conj, and learn the fights in the first handful of dungeons. I have to say this game so far has had the friendliest LFG Tool (Duty Finder.) I've personally experienced in a game. :) I hope as I make my way to gaining my Scholar and beyond that these pleasant experiences continue to outweigh any negative ones.

On my mage character on Exodus, Kalimac Starflame, I try to help anyone I notice struggling with a mob. If it's not a duty mob, I'll throw a few fireballs at it to give the player a little edge. Once the battle is won, I'll cheer the player on and dance with em if they stick around. :cool:

As for the receiving end, I just love how willing players are to raise their fellow comrades no questions asked. I usually get help within the first minute after I shouted. It's just awesome!

I undercut morons who sell HQ items for way more then they're worth. :D

I actually like it when people undercut me by a lot - I just buy the item(s) and repost them for sale on the weekend at inflated prices. ;D

I don't know if I've just gotten lucky with DF or what, but every time I've run a dungeon for the first time there's always been at least one great person that took the time to explain the boss fights and any tips/tricks I might need to know beforehand. I just completed Dzemael Hold for the first time and a dragoon led the way for the 3 of us new to the dungeon - no wipes (a couple of deaths mid-fight but recoverable), great fun. Wish I remembered their name to be able to thank them on this thread.

Sounds like an experience I had on my DRG while leveling it.

Ran Darkhold with 3 people who were new, but everyone listened well and learned quickly. Turned out to be one of my favorite runs since playing, even though we died a couple times :P

I have two that spring to mind so screw your word count! I want to make the most of the rare positive thread in here so I'm posting twice.

The first ever time I did Ifrit HM I got partied with a group of very nice understanding people. Even though I was truly awful and didn't have a clue how the fight went (I don't study beforehand) not once did any of them have a go at me or even make a comment. Despite me being pretty much useless and spending a large majority of the fight KO'd (they did try and revive me, but I kept being raised into AOEs XD) we beat it first time. I said sorry for not being much help and thanked them before they left, and they said it was no bother and that I did well and would be fine once I got used to the patterns. If only all duty finder parties were like that!

The other example is regarding the beginning of the quest for my relic weapon. I had just blown almost all my gil buying the base weapon and materia when it dawned on me...I still had to meld it! I shouted for an Alchemist and found one almost instantly, but still wasn't sure how much I would have to pay as I knew melds could cost a lot. They spoke little English but asked was it for my relic, I said yes and they said send the meld request through. It was my first meld request so wasn't too sure how payment worked so did the first one, no charge. Second one, no charge. With both done I eventually, asked don't I have to pay you? And they said no it's free as they were a WHM too and knew how much the materials cost to buy in the first place. When I eventually have my finished Thyrus, I'll remember how they helped me back in the beginning.

The first time I ran CM, I was the only new person, and I watched all the cutscenes. The party ran ahead while I was watching, but no one ever got mad when I accidentally aggroed something trying to catch up, and they never went into any bosses without me, so that was cool. :)

The biggest thing that sticks in my mind is my first story-mode Garuda, though. The only person who knew the fight was a WHM who'd done it once, so she had an idea of how it went. We wiped over and over and over, because once we got one mechanic down, we'd pass it and the next one would get us until we got that down too. The whole time, no one complained or left. It took forever, but it was pretty awesome, and I wish to find more parties like that. Instead, lately it's one wipe and someone quits. :\

I will never quit until there's no time left. Sometimes people are new. Sometimes people need to practice before they get something right. Sometimes people just need a lot of time and patience and do-overs. I've never been first to leave an instance, and I never will.

I had two nice people on Excaliber help me..... I was really now on gil, had made my HQ item, and bought the materia I needed for my lv50 Armorer quest......only to realize I did not have enough money or a way to get the melding item -.- thanks to some nice people, I got 2 grade 4s and 5k to help me out some. I am now a fully geared (not max geared) lv50 Armorer ^.^

My first time on prae a couple months back and a couple of them were new too. Usually people want you to skip cs but not this group. They were so chill about it. And we didn't wipe not once ever. I loved it. Thank you for making my story ending lovely as ever.

When I first tanked Copperbell Mines, I know, not a very challenging dungeon but any way, I was on a JP server with a JP party, and there was a healer in the group who was a bit unsure about the dungeon. We had a very experienced DRG there who kindly explained all the fights, gave me a few tips on tanking etc. Was awesome. JP players are so ridiculously patient.

This one also happened to me. :D They let me and the other new person watch cutscenes, and they even waited for me when I didn't realize where everyone got keys for the magiteks, and I had to get the elevator back down, get one, then come back up. It was really a lot of fun. :)

I guess it's a sign that the forum community is getting better now, with how good the response is in this thread! :D

I enjoy playing as a healer and my internet connections are not that good but that can't stop me from playing ARR. So far not have any problems with any dungeons but until Titan... it make I realized how bad it is, so I stoped play healer and go leveling DoH.... then one day my saviors come offer me a HELP and don't want anything in return (7ppl from my FC group who already pass and got relics). At last phase when boss hp below 40% I evade lS but got hit by bomb and die, let them carry the fight after that someone start to die after me. with 1 healer(scholar) they barely made it in time but... FINNALY! They beat it! thanks to them I finally move on.

And here I am now... main healer 1 of their BoC raid teams! I'm really appreciated to them so after that I give anyone free service melding and crafting for free if they bring mats. ^__^

I wanna thank the idiotic scholar who kept bitching at me the first time I was dpsing AK(you know who you are). He said these exact words to the other DPS(a friend of mine in full DL) "You know this DRG is gonna make us fail in demon wall right? lululul". Well, I just want to thank you for being such a good idiot and leaving with your head hung in shame and without saying anything when we beat demon wall on our first attempt.
So, yes, if you're out there, seriously, thank you for gtfo. Best act of kindness you can give.
