Hello fellow Eorzeans!

I'm probably fairly new to this forum so let me introduce myself first~ I'm Madsamurai ^^ and i love all things to do with concept art and illustrations.

I understand many of you are frustrated or just down right sick of the current end game and the amount of content available to do as of now but let's just spare the forum with anymore crying, moaning and whining shall we? Instead why not come up with some ideas of things you would like to see in game through art?

Now i know not many people can draw but no worries generating just ideas out into words is also a beauty of its own!

Also please do not debate/discuss/argue/troll in this thread as all things aren't official. Let's make this community a better place shall we?

reminds me of darksiders

Totally digging those gloves. Though personally i was never a fan of the lopsided one shoulder armor, but thats personal preference.

I'm guessing it's because of the shoulderpad and the somewhat "Westernized" looking sketch hahah. Yeah i'm kinda influenced a lot by Joe Mad's amazing pencil art as well.

Thanks! I wanted to give her 2 shoulder armor initially but she ended up looking really bulky so i scrapped it.

Yeah that piece blew me mind when Wada held it up infront of the camera. DRAGOONS REALLY DOES GET THE MOST LOVE DAMMIT LOL. Thanks, i'll strive to be a lot better.

here's a challenge actually - warrior :) the whol 'unleash your inner beast' theme is a double edged sword when it comes to designs, but i really look forward to seeing your interpretation :)

As many have said, you are very talented. I really enjoy your art style, would love to see your take of a Dark Knight job class(though truth be told armored gauntlet portion is right in line with my thoughts of it). Keep up the great work.

I'll probably start up a site i guess? Hahah, but for now i will wanna dedicate most of my sharing to Lodestone and this thread. Just to keep the community spirit going!

That caster armor looks freaken amazing. Its sexy but badass at the sometime which is a style this game needs in droves. I really hope SE takes notes on this, hats off to you.

I was kinda crushed to see yet another hooded cloth armor at end game for casters so i thought.. why not start with Summoner and give them some semi-leather chestpiece with a lil bit of Garlean inspired feel to it while keeping the "Darklight" theme SE had created in place. I just went crazy with the armored gloves and lop-sided shoulder armor.. was kind of experimenting how it would look on a caster instead of just seeing it on Bards and Monks. I'm glad you like it! Thank you ^^

Hi guys, hope you all had a good start of the week.

Sorry for the lack of updates yesterday. I'm working on multiple pieces currently therefore it is taking some time for each piece to complete.

I'll be back with more stuff soon but at the meantime i'll share one which i doodled over an old sketch. I could guess some of you probably know the theme behind the armor at first glance despite it's sketchiness.

I love your artwork Mad, but personally I wouldn't be caught dead in that armor as a paladin. It's even bulkier than darklight x_X

And in regards to posting your details, I wouldn't put your e-mail on here, but a link to a portfolio website wouldn't be a bad idea.

Constructive criticism beyond this point:
Basing an armor off Alexander is good in theory, but the giant shoulderpads thing... everyone is pretty sick of it at this point, or if they aren't, they're still playing WoW. Maybe a Roegadyn could pull this off, but that's about it. Unfortunately I'm not too sure how to make an armor that looks recognizably like Alexander without looking ridiculous as armor, since he himself is a castle. Maybe it's just a personal preference and others would like it, but I will say that those overly huge shoulders make the legs look about 2/3 as long as they should.

Thanks for the critique! They are much needed and i have the same sentiments as you while trying to design an armor themed around Alexander without making it look too crazy though it's still kinda out of whack at the end result. The shoulderpads was the biggest design problem and it took the longest for me to come to that. Honestly i am not satisfied with it. I've tried to visualise the Roegadyn's physique while drawing it too since just like you said they are probably the only ones that could handle such an armor. Keep these comments coming, they really improve my design thinking in the long run :D

Just looking over some images of alexander, I got a few ideas of what you may want to change. What if you did something like this:

Shoulders: Make them wider not taller, kinda like the paladin in Ragnarok Online

Arms: this is where you can make things look a bit more mechanical for that piston look, he is a robot afterall (didn't know he was a robot actually, thank you wiki)

Back of chestpiece/helm: Like the dragoon armor's back, you could use that part of the armor and helm to get the crown/rampart look.

Chest: I dunno if it's just me but it looks like he's wearing a vest of some kind, maybe the chest/abdomen could look like a furnace, looks like there is some kind of grate there.

Edit: Oh! Cool idea that just popped into my head while re-reading this and thinking of something to add. I was thinking about the back of the armor, ya know how I said that's where you could get the rampart look. Well, in doing that, I was thinking since he is a robot, it may make sense for that to look like a backpack of sorts, like a power source or battery (think Dead Space, Halo, or a radio backpack) basically a backpack that isn't a backpack, but built into the armor. And then I started thinking about those ramparts looking all roboty, but we don't have robots in XIV. What we do have is allagan tech. And it's closely related, Magitek. SO, what if it looks all jaggedy pointing up like the environments in binding coils? I dunno, just a random thought.
