That means nothing if they don't give out retention figures.
edit: I just meant that it would have been nice to see total accounts and % retention so we could see how healthy 2.0 was.
WoW uses some funky registration numbers anyways. Sine a large percentage of players are in China. If you didn't know in China they "pay as you go". So some people may not use up anytime and actually get counted. IE I have 10 mins in January I count, I don't use those 10 mins I still count in February. So not all the people counted are actually paying accounts.
Thats my point though, its counting registered accounts and not active.. i would call this game successful so far, but you cant look at that 1.5 million number and automatically say that 1.5 million people are playing.. everyone has people in their FC that havent logged on in weeks.
Exactly my thoughts as well.. im a 1.0 player as well, but to honestly believe that every single person that has registered is still playing is not just rose colored glasses, those are glasses made of roses. Not to mention they are likely counting players with both PC and PS3 keys twice since they had to be registered individually
It definitely means something. Just not what *you* would like to know.
It means that another half a million players bought the game since Tokyo Game Show, which is a really nice figure for second month sales of a MMORPG.
As for retention, servers look pretty damn crowded to me, so I'm not really worried.
It's more like how people wanted to disbelieve that FFXI was ever popular or had more than 250k subs ever - WoW always reports 15 mil+ even though they count inactive, dead and trial accounts in their numbers since when you play it, there's a lot of people but it in no way feels like 15-18 million people.
People want to see the actual numbers of active subs, no trolling involved.
No they make it clear that those accounts are active. They're down to 10,000,000. The thing is most of those accounts come from china. They also count accounts in internet cafe. Why do I bring up china? It's why you don't "notice 10,000,000." They have their own servers. Then there's many servers people are spread out in. Thing is you only need 250,000 people to turn a profit. 500,000 is considered good. WoW has warped people's perception on what is good.
Well if 500k more people have bought it since then, then we can go ahead and say those 500k people are probably active for the moment, and factor in how many people originally stayed after free trials ended and even if that 1.5 mil is counting inactive accounts, they probably have a good bit over 1mil active at the moment. Servers do feel very well populated and in some areas overpopulated from what I can tell.
you guys are missing the bigger part about that article...2.1 is coming IN DECEMBER
/slit wrist WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!! :(
1* - Stats were released in late September.
2* - No official date has actually been given for 2.1...The only thing that has *ACTUALLY* been said is "by the end of the year". - It's actually speculated and much more likely that the update will come in the next few weeks considering the Playstation 4 kicks off in 2-3 weeks.
I don't know where //any// of you got "2.1 is coming in December"...When in fact, the only guarantee thus far is that 2.1 is coming BY December.
Accounts =/= People actually subbed.
And 2.1 is in Dec?
That's very disappointing...The count will go even down more
because the 2.1 is in Dec. Not a lot of people will be entertained by then
but it's only 1 month less of sub, they will come back.
I still get log-in queues.
700k of those are gil sellers judging by the number of tells ive gotten in the last 2 days.
OH NOES! THIS INFORMATION IS CONTRARY TO MY FALSE PRECONCEPTIONS. LET ME INVENT MORE EXCUSES WHY THIS INFORMATION IS SUPPOSEDLY BOGUS AND WHY THIS GAME IS A FAILURE. AND IF ANYONE DISCREDITS MY INFORMATION WITH ACTUAL FACT, I'LL CALL THEM A WHITE KNIGHT.

Lol, even those bots have to pay a monthly fee. Even though SE is taking action on them, They still had to buy the base game (for the code) + any monthly fees ( if they last that long lol).
Unless bots work around those things somehow?
( Is there a source saying 2.1 comes in December? Even though I figured it will most likely come by that month.)
Service accounts I think is what they're counting.
Hmmm... Nowhere did they actually link the official Press Release, which means I cannot (as usual) trust this websites information.
The game was released in August. I don't think I will continue sitting doing nothing besides Coil a couple of days per week all through November as well....
I'm more curious as to why it says "multiple" new dungeons will be added. Crystal Tower will be added, but I'm pretty sure additional difficulty levels for pre-existing dungeons don't count as new dungeons :3
From what I understand, it won't be the exact same dungeons with more HP on enemies. They are supposedly re-doing
them in as a different path with different bosses. I could be wrong. Still not necessarily "new", but "newer" I guess.
Plus on top of Crystal Tower, they are adding Pharos Sirius as a new level 50 dungeon. :)
If 500k people bought the game last month.
And a standard edition is $19.99
And if my maths is correct
That's $10 000 000
Not bad for a months wages
It has been assumed the hard mode dungeons will have new layouts and bosses. This would make them count as new in my opinion. Also the game came out Late August. Devs said updates every 2-3 months. 3 months is last week of Nov. Factor in all the launch BS and a week delay wouldn't be surprising. That would put it first week of Dec.
I disagree 100%.
The difference between titan EM and HM is night and day. I would not count that as 1 battle as the way to beat them are totally different. Need better gear need 4 more people and need new guides to beat him. I expect it to be the same and I think HM to dungeons are a great way to give us more content faster.
