protect>stoneskin on tank, they cant get out of cast range before you cast 2 spells, your dps dont need stoneskin instantly, they're not gonna die to the first pack of trash..
You would be surprised how fast pugs can die (when i don't bother healing them). :)
I don't even bother healing in AK or WP anymore. I just run full spirit bonding gear and let my pet do all the work. I do this up until the last boss, I don't really heal at all on the first two bosses....
Also if a person pisses me off in some way I will let them get to about 500 hp to scare them before healing them, or just let them die and run back.
Sounds like a Leeroy lol
I've found this to be somewhat of a small nuisance, especially with the abundance of AK runs people will run right on ahead and - sure, swiftcast exists but sometimes by the time I cast Protect even with swiftcast (and that is spamming it as quick as I can!), they're still out of range.
The method I find most useful is to just watch every cutscene, then Swiftcast and Protect... then they don't usually have the distance on me.
I find it totally annoying when tanks run off at the start and don't wait for buffs, and it seems it's always the arrogant retarded tanks that can't hold hate that do this. My solution is to not cure them and let them die, if they feel what I do isn't important enough to wait a moment for, then they can see how far they can go without me. I even had one tank run off at start and pull the first set of mobs in a dungeon while I was casting protect and ss on the rest of the party. Needless to say, he died pretty shamefully, then told me he reported me for not doing my job lol.
I'm sometimes guilty of this... but I can usually Tank a standard dungeon trash mob with no healer if I really need to, just need to rotate cooldowns and stuns sensibly... it can be fun to make the Healer panic occasionally :p
Paladin Duty Finder Party Dungeon Walkthrough:
Step #1: Queue for dungeon, queue pops within 30 seconds.
(Bonus points if you're willing to join a party in progress, since you'll usually get an appreciative bunch whose tank has just ragequit on them... can make for a fun run!)
Step #2: Upon zoning in, say "Hello folks! Any first-timers or do we all know the dungeon ok? ;)" in team chat.
Step #3: Chow (cheap) food, cast Stoneskin on yourself and wait for people to speak up and/or protect to be cast.
Step #4: Once Protect is cast, start charging at the first mob. Mark Attack1 and Attack2 enroute.
Step #5: Kill mob, whilst rotating cooldowns + holding hate on everything. Assure any newbies in team chat that you'll explain boss mechanics to them beforehand (and warn them to watch out for the Stalker if in WP)
Step #6: Stoneskin yourself just as you kill the last enemy. Run to next mob. Attempt multiple-mob pulls if the Healer is decent and you have at least one good AoE DD, otherwise pull single mobs to "safe areas" out of view of adds.
Step #7: If any first-timers, pause at Bosses to briefly explain any odd fight mechanics. Otherwise you just need the standard one-liner: "Tanking boss in middle, flashing adds" or "I can take 5 stacks of rancor, go wild! ;)" etc.
Step #8: Do not complain if for some reason you can't beat a boss first time: "No worries, Take #2! :D"
Step #9: Successfully Complete Dungeon. Be sure to do a /cheer and /gcsalute teammates. Bonus points for the Happy Waffle Dance.
Step #10: Repair gear, then GOTO #1.
:D
As a healer I am much more cynical. I would have steps involved bashing my head against the wall as people stand in stuff, no one kills adds, so I become 2nd tank.. etc... I prefer FC runs and almost exclusively now.
I just started lvl 50 dungeons yesterday. Ran 2 with FC, went seriously smooth and ran 1 on straight DF. The last one was......interesting. The tank was what OP was talking about just charges in, no buffs drags as much shit together as possible...thank you benediction.
The thing that reallllllly put the icing on the cake. I can't remember which boss it was, i'm thinking WP pudding boss. Door opened up, ran straight through dragging 3 mobs with him engaged boss with 3 mobs adn 2 party members waiting for stalker to pass.
/sigh./
What is this Duty Finder you all speak of?
It's that thing you use in hopes to avoid the type of groups you see shouting that are all relic n full dl speed run holy stun onry. Back on topic I see this a lot doing WP or AK. Drives me nuts. Sometimes they don't get protect til the fourth pull. Course I have been on the other end where I'm waiting for the healer to use protect and have to go pull before the rest of the group does cause they're getting antsy. I know it's a below 40 dungeon but come on pop that protect so I can start this party.
i use DF even as a healer with full DL / 90 helm...
i start casting protect as the last person leaves the cs.
generally i have clean runs. had a new type of DF tank thought he could pull it all, still wearing 3 white pieces, AK, and 2DL in WP.
first pack he lets first tonberry get to half, second close to full, pulls second...he's taking chunks with 5 mobs surely he wouldn't pull more!
no...he pulls bugs and next tonberry by thesquare room(a dd had pulled agro, and my fairy) i hit sprint used swiftcast and right before i got in range he dies...
he was talking trash etc. I mentioned the boss does an invisible aoe poison right around him when he does a frontal cone
got told to shut up my only job is to heal...
i should of left but continued...the bickering got me to almost let him die a few times
