Or just play the game and go about your merry way?
How exactly does starting a new character do anything? I mean can you trade them or the gear?
Lol, idiotic thread. :D
I know it's trolling, but some people might have seriously thought about this... xD
Lol I just don't get it. Properly how??? I mean... is it really that game breaking having a cap on how much of a currency for gear you can get per week? It's merely setting a time frame. Just some people can't deal with it. But whatever, if they want to have different characters for different combat classes just to have the end game gear on all of them at the same time, it's their time... XD
Oh well!
Being that having a second character allows you to gear 2 classes at the same time instead of one, it's not really idiotic. If they were to implement that cap to per job then making a second character would actually be pointless.
If you need/want the gear that bad.... It would kinda beat the point of being able to have all classes on a single character. But to each their own. Hence why I said that if they want to do it then it's their choice. I just personally wouldnt as I would be losing the perks of having all in one. However I would have an alt character but just not for the sole purpose of getting past the tomestones cap.
Me personally, I'd rather gear up the job I'm playing, on the character I leveled and gear an alt job after my main is finished rather than spending the time releveling numerous classes and completing numerous quests and the main story, again just to get around a weekly cap.
Did you know? In the time it takes you to relevel everything on an alt character the weekly cap means nothing since it will take more than week to get another character up to speed if you don't play all day everyday?
Here we go again...

Wait 8 months and you can get around the cap.
Can't believe people are so obsessed with having that ilvl90 gear that they'd go as far as leveling a new char for each quest and going through the story again and again. This is one of the things that really burned me out in Diablo 3, and I could STILL share loot between them.
I guess people don't realize that SE said back in beta that gear purchased with tokens were supposed to be filler for raid drops, not the end all be all.
Anyway, I've posted about this in other threads now. The summary of the story is Coil shouldn't have been released before CT and nothing higher than DL gear should have been purchasable from the vendors.
You kind of miss the point. Some people playing FFXIV actually LIKE the endgame content. To them that is the point of the game: doing endgame content. So having multiple jobs on one character is effectively meaningless, because they only get to do one job worth of content, and are only able to gear out one job on one character anyway.
So rolling another character is the only way to get around this. It lets you run coil a second time per week, and it lets you accumulate gear on two characters per week. It points out the whole flaw in the multiclass system of this game. It doesn't actually give you any more freedom to use a single character to play multiple roles. It just gives you some extra time sinks and some cross class skills.
