WHM No Cast Time Heals

In the event of content where the healers have to move rapidly, it would be very helpful if SE would implement some sort of weaker healing spell that is instantly casted.

This would open up doors for boss mechanics where the healer would be forced to move and yet be able to heal the rest of the group.

Also, an aoe instant heal ability would be very helpful in this case as well.

I feel like we are very limited with these cast times, and this will prevent future content where we are constantly on the move, open a door so we can heal while moving with something other than swift cast >> heal or plain ole regen.

Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions, ideas on this other healers?

Would look forward to hear what others have to say on this topic and maybe what SE might implement provided we get enough feedback on this particular topic.

You could try rolling with a SCH if you feel that you are experiencing this. The bubbles that SCH provide prevent some of that dmg and aids a WHM's regen and swift cast medica 2's regen to cover any mobile healing that needs getting done.

That said, I can't really see them adding such spells to a WHM's kit w/o doing something similar to SCH and that would change both classes quite a bit from what they are now. Also consider that they would take such things into consideration when designing content so WHM/SCH will never have to worry that they will get caught in any situation that they lack the tools for if both are present.

Also, you usually don't see these kinds of changes so soon after a games release as they are typically something that is done between xpacs, so I wouldn't expect any such drastic changes to gameplay just yet.

That's why you level Thaum to 26 for Swiftcast.

WHM does have an instant heal. It's called "regen". It is the strongest healing spell per mana and it casts instantly. WHM are op as they are right now so I don't think they should get buffed anymore. It'd be nice but not necessary. It all depends on the skills of the players.

I could imagine a stance like DDo´s quickening (double manacost double spellspeed immune to interrups). But giving instants would make it too easy. With a stance like that you still could screw things up if maintaining it too long. But I guess it would just result in LFM Crystaltower 3/24 only bardslots left.

WHM can get something similar to this (tho much much weaker in effect) by chaining Swift+Sure+what ever heal. The way WHM mana regen/recovery works currently, this would be a very dangerous option they way you describe it as they would feel it either sucks and can't use it due to mana limitations OR they will end up demanding a bard be present for all content in order to use it so they feel viable. Granted BRDs are dime a dozen, they are not currently needed for WHM viability. That spell suggestion would introduce the perception of non-viability w/o a BRD present. Considering all that they do and bring to the table they already border on being required.

An instant AoE heal given to the WHM would be totally redundant and unnecessary. A single target instant heal with a cool down however, I see more reasonable. However, as it is, WHMs are pretty much on top in terms of emergency heals, I can't see them buffing them further on what is already their biggest strength.

Benediction is a single-target instant heal on a CD.

^^ Exactly, which is why I don't think WHMs would need any changes at this point. OP is suggesting an AoE Instant Heal, they're not going to add that. If any instant heal were added to the WHM, it'd be more along the lines of Holy Shock of Holy Paladins.

WHM has enough tools as it stands. Between stone skin(situational), renew(Always good), and swiftcast(Overpowered), and benediction, there are enough buttons you can press to counteract having to move. Let me stress that swiftcast has a 1 minute cooldown and should be available.
Any time your party is taking too much damage or your tank, you should have had renew or stone skin up. If your tank is truly getting bursted down so fast that you cant survive a small amount of movement, you can have Medica 2 (if there is similarly timed damage to party and mana isn't an issue) and renew up. A swiftcasted cure 2 and you can save your bene for the next 59 seconds. Players should be satisfied with the concept and execution of the WHM class... except cure 3.

Would be nice if cure 3 was set up with the potency of 1, instant cast at a higher mana cost. The "Overcure" proc could be set to remove it from global cooldown. Or the proc could add a short (6 second) HoT.

Class is balanced as it is though, so I doubt the wisdom of buffing it.

Idk why would say that whm's are overpowered healing class as if there really is any other options for healing classes besides SCH.

MY theory was that in the present future if there were fights where you were constantly having to move.. or PERHAPS SE could create fights where you are constantly on the move and having to heal while moving to the point where a simple swift casts and regens are not enough that we would need something to bridge the gap between our casted heals and our lack of heals during chaotic movement fights.

I want to see more abilities that are instant for healing wise that WHM can use outside of what we have as casted abilities.

The idea of these instant cast abilities is just to cast something while you are moving provided you dont really NEED to cast a SWIFT CAST nor do you have any reason to cast regen.

These instant heals would be much inferior than casted, yet still hit a purpose, and no I dont believe any of you even understood my post.

These instant cast heals would not indeed break whm or make it any stronger than is but simpley open up a door where we have more to do while moving, you cant rely on regen and swift cast like you say you do and it would be wise to implement this for the class for all intended healing purposes.

Heavens be damned! this would even be superb in pvp :D not that we already wouldnt rock things as is with our heals but still.

I want to see more than standing firmly and stop cast move repitition and bring more life to healing.

And unless you even fully understand my post and why I created this thread, dont even both posting a reply since you are just simply blind.

i can't imagine any scenario where you would be moving for longer than 5-10sec


if boss's could cast 'moving red areas' they still wouldnt be a problem

if a boss required you to move into different rooms for different phases it could easily be done with regen+swiftcast heal, even just stoneskin+regen.. probably even just regen.

if you were required to turn cogs/pull levers during a fight you'd have a dps do it


give us a scenario this could be used

If they changed Surecast to no interruption and be able to move that would be great.

The only change I'd like to see is for "instant" off-GCD skills to not have an animation delay. It would be sweet if I could macro swift>sure>heal into a single button that actually worked instantly.

Doesn't much matter, though. The animation delay is a core gameplay quirk that all healers have already adjusted for.

The way I see it, is that just be glad that at least SE gives you a chance to move; it's actually a dumbed down mechanic to show the target prompting you to move. The alternative is to have the boss range attack you or global AOE without any warning. The boss has got to have ways to engage the range folks.

I'm not seeing OP's concern.

If the tank is in serious danger of dying before you can stop and cast: Benediction
If tank needs to be kept propped up but you can't afford to stand still for a while yet: Regen
If you need to cast a spell urgently, but situation isn't dire enough to justify benediction: Swiftcast

There's already a pretty robust set of tools to allow for healing on the move. Plus in 8 man scenarios (ie. HM trials where movement is the biggest thing), you'll usually be partnered with a scholar, who also bring heal-and-scoot skills to the table (Lustrate, proxy heals via fairy). Anything more and we're moving away from the caster vs martial division found in games like this and need to remodel game mechanics in terms of GW2's twitch based game

Its fine as it is. Everyone else is managing just fine.

While you're dodging AoE, no one should be getting damage because that's everything the enermy is doing.
If someone dies while you're dodging AoE, that means he/she did not dodge AoE when he/she was supposed to.
If the dead person complains you for not healing him/her, then you can complain back at him/her for not dodging AoE.
But actually, I've never had problem with healing when I need to dodge AoE often. It only takes 1-2 secs to dodge. If I have problem with people dying because of those 1-2 secs, then I would have problem with people dying when I sneeze.

When scholars want things added to make them "more like whm" in my opinion, I tell them Scholar wasnt meant to be white mage, and they are pretty powerful as is. Now a fellow whm wants to be even more powerful, all I will say is, we are pretty powerful as it is.

no, leave instant heals to SCH you already have all the tools you need to heal every situation in game.

Just a suggestion in a fight like Titan you could use Divine Seal then Swiftcast Medica II? That would be pretty powerful and chances are that you're going be with another WHM or SCH so it should be fine... Other than that if it's a four man dungeon you shouldn't really be struggling.
