So the mentality in the game is not to get a DF group for Titan, but to premake one (usually from people in Mor Dhona). This makes sense, especially since the DF gives you two tanks when you could take another dps (or healer if you ascribe to the 3 healer strat). Obviously, if you can go with FC people that is better, but my FC isn't geared enough yet. I have been trying for a few weeks now to down Titan with premade groups. I have had varying levels of success, but pretty much they always devolved into me standing there tanking Titan while watching people get blown up by Titan's AOEs.
Last night, after taking a break for 4 days or so from attempting Titan since I felt like I was banging my head against a wall, I decided to try again. I got a group together in Mor Dhona and I felt good about the group since they were all talkative and had multiple darklight pieces of gear. We proceeded to try about 5 attempts against him and only made it to about 40% health on our best attempt. Even worse, we had a bard that was standing on the edge of the arena when the healer kept asking him to stand closer to everyone else for AOE heals during tumults. He was probably asked 10 times to move closer but he never did. After we decided to call it quits, he said that he didn't know what the problem was, but he knew he was a good player and in the right anyway.
There was only an hour until maintenance at this point, so I was thinking of just logging. Then, I decided to just use the DF to find a group because, well, it couldn't be that much worse. As a tank, I only waited about 5 minutes. The first attempt with this group we got him down to about 15% and wiped because one of our healers messed up and died. On the second attempt, we beat him with only one bard dying about half way through.
Side note: the only really annoying part was the other Paladin pulled threat off me once and was on my heels threat wise the entire time because he just spammed his Rage combo over and over. I would have volunteered to dps the second attempt because of this since I know how to manage my threat when dpsing by using riot blade for a while until the other tank is way ahead, but I had 600 more hp so...
Anyway, after 3 weeks of trying I finally finished Titan HM with a DF group. I know I may have gotten extraordinarily lucky with the group members I got, but if you are fed up with bad premade groups, try the DF a few times and see where that gets you.

I'm just about to get started on Titan attempts and have been thinking about doing a DF group to get practice in.
I've seen the videos and know what to do, but I'm hesitant about the /shout groups in Mor Dhona because most of the time the ones shouting seem like pricks.
I would rather take my chances in the DF for practice than deal with @sshats that think they're "elite".
I'm a member of a LS that can pretty much farm Titan but I don't want to be carried and would rather learn the fight before asking for their help. -

That is a good idea. Much better to get a DF group for practice. In my experience, the people in premade groups are nice if you know the fight at least.

There is nothing to be scared of. Failing in a video game doesn't hurt you. I have a couple friends who got lucky and df a group that knew what they were doing and won. The odds are better with an organized group who know how to work together. But to fear anything in the game is a bit unfounded.

I can see why people would actually be afraid. The community I've seen in the game can be pretty bad.
Don't get me wrong, for every horrible person that's an ass you'll find a decent person willing to help, but sometimes it's hard to get past the assholes. -

I used DF for practice plenty of times and it never went too bad until all the Fate-to-50 people started joining up. That's where the real problem lies. So many people don't run dungeons or anything as they level and Ifrit/Garuda aren't near as demanding as Titan, so their party experience with their class is limited, so their skill level will be lower for a while, topped with them being worse off in gear, and you have a recipe for a failed group.
Prior to this phenomenon it was quite normal for me to queue and get Titan to 3% or less in DF groups on NA/EU servers. It's not that JP players are better or worse, it's that all the good NA/EU players downed Titan long ago and are on to new content. -

I did several DF pugs for Titan, just to practice. I watched a video beforehand, but I wanted to get the feel for it myself while waiting for a FC run. I think it worked out fairly well. I mean, none of the pugs got past the heart, but it was good practice. ;)

definitely don't be scared to go into DF to do the Titan fight. It's great practice. You're probably not going to complete it but there's enough groups out there that can practice up to Phase 5 and that's all you really need.
Earlier tonight, my friend and I said enough was enough. We decided to pay a group to clear it. My friend was generous enough to share the cash to pay for the two runs. When we got to the runs, both myself and my friend performed perfectly. Did we get carried? Yes, but that didn't mean that we didn't have to move out of the way, know all the patterns and do what we're supposed to do. Everything I did in that fight was of my own skill/knowledge. The Duty Finder allowed me to perfect the fight and from then on, the success hinged on other people not making mistakes. -

I prefer DF cuz Mor Dohna groups i was in all died before phase 3.... i lost hope on killing titan, seriously thinking to buy it. I understand that you cant dodge 100% but getting hit by landslide 3 times in row in one try is just joke.

You have also to consider, more and more people (with DL gear etc.) try Titan more and more with DF, so the chance to win with DF gets higher by every day.
Yes, as a tank it sucks to see most people die before heart phase, because as a tank your real job starts after heart phase (table flip / your cooldowns). -

Yeah i've seen a few of those groups, get past heart easily, then it all goes down hill. They start getting lax on dodging, we stop getting past heart, etc. People can't perform consistently.

I do not see why a DF group would be any worse than a shout group. Except if you are one of those "RELIC + DL ONLY" guys. Otherwise the quality you can expect is the same. Only that people enter DF with lower expectations and do not rage as easily.

The tanks dpsing in titan can be quite a pain, I don't know why they think they can just do enmity moves like crazy and believe they wont take threat away, worst than that just the whms that medica II like crazy and then complain that tank can't hold Titan.
I finally got a group that worked using DF on Titan, have to say the only one overgeared in it was the Warrior that tanked it(8k+ HP), Titan is nothing to be scared it is pretty much 3 phases of dodging, one of burning cooldowns dpsing and lb if necessary and then another phase of dodge. In other words it is more important to be able to dodge stuff than to actually be able to do great dps during the entire fight and most of the time groups don't have enough dps at heart because one or more dps are dead before getting there. -

I have a few friends that got cleared from Titan using duty finder. However, most of the time, the epxerience from duty finder is that they would never make it to phase 5 while most wins are coming from pure luck with a good group. Whereas shout group can get to phase 5 most of the time but never been able to beat the boss.
So my take is that duty finder or not, it is really down to your individual luck in getting the right people with right minds completing it. -

Not gonna lie, I've been in about 6 DF castrum runs(pre-world transfer) where it was mostly JP players. Im on an NA server as well. Also they were all late at night like around 4-5 am.
