WP Second Boss: Does it matter in what order you kill the adds?

I did WP for the first time yesterday, I read a guide and the second boss that spawns adds with different colors, I read to first kill blue, then white, and then anything else.

However after doing 3 more runs every party had a different idea of this order. So, does it really matter in any way or is it just about communicating with each new party about what they prefer so the mobs die faster?

Well, the blue one (if I remember correctly) heals the boss... and the others does.. I don't know.. All I do is kill Blue add and kill the others in a different order.

The adds have pretty Low HP, the best way is to have the tank gather them with the boss and the DD's AoEing them. 2 or 3 Fire II's make short work of them.

Blue one heals, i just normally gather them up so they can be aoe down.

Blue first, it's the one that is healing the boss if you're not killing it.
I'm not even sure what the other colors do specifically, I know one uses gravity so I suppose in a non aoe party you'd want that one dead next, I think it may be the white one.

If you have 2 aoe classes, just kill 'em all together. If you have only one aoe, I'd maybe ask the melee to focus on the blue one first at least. Though that could all change base on how geared your party is, and it's composition.

I was always told Blue first White second. After that I guess it didn't matter.

Purple second is to prevent healer from being paralyzed more or less. Paralyzed healer is often way worse than the alternative.

paralize is not a threat if you remove it and healer have time to do that, WHM or SCH both jobs have skill to assit esuna/(dont remember name of SCH skill)

People don't just AoE down the adds? :o

And the few cases where DPS has been pretty poor, I've died horribly, even if I Esuna'd off Heavy/Paralysis. By the time you've gotten those debuffs off, the boss will have caught up and oneshot you. :p

I know how that feel, been there done that but as last mand standing

but the main reason is because the DD dont target and kill the add as soon as they pop but mindless dmg the boss, the adds are very weak that you can even use GC wep to kill em quick

and some pt, you dont have the aoe cability to burst down the add, like MNK and DRG, they both have aoe but weak and it is faster for them to single burst the target down, and SMN aoe is build overtime, is good but not in that situation where you prefer burst

I play whm and just before adds spawn i drop stoneskin+regen on the tank and then run to where he is and hit cleric stance and then holy a few times. That's usually enough to kill all the adds.

Since you didn't seem to understand what I wrote:
If Purple tosses Paralyze on HEALER, Esuna can be interrupted and interrupted repeatedly when the HEALER tries to get it off.
Interruption from Paralyze also affects movement.
If tank and dps in that situation can't keep control of the puddings, healer ends up dead.
Therefore, Purple second to prevent (or at least reduce the risk) that healer is being paralyzed.

Your claim that healer can't figure out how to use Esuna is so wrong that it's insane and is an insult to the majority of WHM's out there.

Blue heals.
Purple paralyzes.
White slows.
Green puts a DoT.
Yellow puts a shield on the boss.

the time between every interrupt is enough time to remove it, and sadly but no most of the healer out there does not have problem with the purple paralize, the amount of pt demand kill purple 2nd is less than you think

and I will not get into the control pudding, it is tank job, kill pudding is DD job, and even WHM can holy those pudding but I will not get into that either

note: when your cast get interrupt, you can press it again and the skill will use and the paralize will go away...like you know...magical remove and there is enough time to heal the tank between every interrupt, the interupt is repeat but not continues every second

Well, just yesterday I had a group wipe consistently, me tanking btw. And not just any group, it was a decent geared monk and 5+DL SCH and BLM. They had this crazy idea of me just tanking as many adds as possible, while they didn't even nuked the boss or anything. The funny part was the healer being fucused by 20 adds and the boss, not moving an inch, and then shouting "the tank fkin sucks" before rage quiting. So people don't just have different add killing orther, or methods, some of them prefer to not do anything at all. Aside from that, if your party can nuke-aoe the adds, this is a non issue.

I am amazed no one mentioned this yet but: why does noone seem to use the potions removing status alignments? Spine/echo drops are a must have for any healer, the rest is not so critical.

If I'm going into DF for WP I tend to play as WHM so I can use holy to carry slow DPS through the second boss.

Each of adds has a debuff they put on you and if done, could probably cause your unwanted death.

Maybe because grouping the adds make it easier for them to nuke in this fight? Or am i missing something? Cuz i usually just grab the 3 on the left side before grabbing the one on the left.... 2 flashes.... just sayin. Shit i even help DPS the adds, those f*ckers are annoying and need to die fast.

Yup, kite that sucker. Stay as FAR away from it as possible.

Since we're discussing this boss, what are you supposed to do if you are the one that gets targeted by it? One if the times I got targeted I did this and when I ran past the healer with it it aaoed and killed the healer.

Im not talking about pulling hate but when the boss puts a target on a random player.

I mean, running away is doing it right but people in front of the boss when he does his attack will get hit it seems. The best course of action is, obviously, to try to kite it away from and not through people if you can help it. Likewise, people should try to stand away from the boss when he's being kited.

Honestly, I don't think it's been an issue for me yet. Surecast > Esuna usually does the trick. I haven't been silenced/locked so long that it caused the pt to die due to lack of heals going out.

The Order I was Trained to was:
Blue (heals boss)
White (Heavies you, making it impossible for you to run away when targeted)
Purple (Paralyzes you, almost as bad as Heavy)
Yellow (Shields boss)
Green (Stupid Windburn...)

Esuna and Leech are both good for removing Paralyze and Heavy, although Dragoons can get away from Heavy with Elusive Jump.

instant potion pop still beats having to surecast -> esuna. pop the spine drop and don't even stop healing your teammates

So many things wrong here. First, yes it CAN happen often. I've been paralyzed as a healer, tried to Esuna ZAP, tried to Esuna ZAP. Multiple times in a row, it's random. Second, you should always carry spine drops to remove it since it's more reliable than a cast time spell. Third, If the boss targets the healer, or either DD for that matter, HE CANNOT HOLD IT OR THE ADDS. It will chase them for a good 15 seconds and the tank can do NOTHING.

Lastly, to your edit. No, as I said above, you can not always do that. Paralyze is TWO debuffs. The main one, and the one that actually randomly paralyzes you and lasts about 1-2 seconds.

I've been suspecting it's not random, but deliberately kicks in the moment you try to do something. Standing still? no proc. Trying to run? ZAP Trying to cast? ZAP

And yeesh, I wonder if people don't trust me spamming Flash and Circle of Scorn (so pretty), but so many DPS I see need to be commanded to AoE. Going to be painful getting that Darklight Shield. ><

I don't know how to do WP properly. When I tank the second boss I just run around and flash and overpower and tank all the adds and the boss while someone aoes the boss, the adds die, then we run like chicken's with their heads chopped off and do it again. Then the boss dies. If someone gets hit it's usually me and I still have >50% hp left after the aoe the boss does, it doesn't 1 shot the tank.

Yeah that's it, normal do always blue, white, purple, then what evers left. The slow given by the white slime can be very dangerous, especially when people deiced to run at the last min from boss. Tbh load of time i told poeple about the whit but they say you lying haha, knew i wasnt chatting rubbish :)

If your dps is good, then you can aoe them easily. If not, do them by order to mitigate damage and save time.

In WP i usually get kill Blue then Purple. Reasoning is Blue heals as been mentions, Purple paralyzes, White causes heavy I believe, and I'm not sure what Green does. But I found the best way is to AoE them and obliterate them, with Blue always being prime target for first take down.
