No voice chat?... What a joke, farcical.

So an MMO with no voice chat on a console with no separate voice chat?

Just plain ridiculous and I've no idea how its allowed and accepted to be like this or even was considered to be the correct way to launch an MMO. Renewed for 60 days today to play with my mates and now we're supposed to just blindly follow each other and not communicate while playing a game that's supposed to be about doing things together.

Don't suggest emotes or text, because I'd only consider you a fanboy idiot for thinking that's a sufficient alternative while playing the actual game.

Yes Skype exists, but its not an option for one of my friends who also bought a headset for this, as did I which is okay for me because its Skype compatible.

I was shocked enough to discover PS3 can't cross game chat this week, but no in game chat either for an MMO? Ha!

just... what else can be said? so beyond poor.

Rant over, sort it out.

Get a Skype enabled headset problem solved. Use a app on a tablet / smartphone problem solved. Run voip on a laptop problem solved.

I heard voice chat will be open for PS4. It sucks for it not to be on ps3 considering that if we dont have a keyboard we have to manually input it in via controller and it takes a long time.

Get a mumble/skype and I am sure 90% of the world has a smart phone. This is what our PS3 users in our FC do.
There is an app for that.

Plus most of the players are varied between PC/PS3 anyhow if you are using the duty finder you'll most likely be talking to yourself.

The topic of in game voice chat has been beaten to death, if it's not doable cross platform (as in PC and PS3 players in the same "room") it's not happening.

PC players generally don't care as we don't use the in game voice chat that comes with most MMOs as it's usually shit.

My FC uses C3 and has no problems with it. I would love for the guys at SE to figure out in game cross platform voip, but we'll make do until that happens.

Well that's part of the problem isn't it? Every time a console player mentions VC the PC folks flood in saying the same tired crap, get mumble/vent/keyboard...some people don't get that console players are new to things like Vent, etc..its easy for folks to say it, hard for us to DO it when we have no knowledge how it works..

That being said, my FC got vent working and we are mostly console player's, though, surprise surprise, it took a PC player in our FC to set it up. I don't even HAVE a PC, my GF has a laptop and I use my tablet/phone for surfing etc..

People need to understand that the VC issue will keep being brought up, its new to console players to have to use a 3rd party system, so as the popular saying in here suggests..

I understand there other ways to chat with ppl if you are a PS3 user still it's kind of a joke for the game not to have voice chat from start. For all the good things I have to say about FF14 this is a def let down, voice chat needs to be incorporated ASAP.

Just get a PC haha

do you seriously still use in game voice chat on any game these days?

use a 3rd party program like TS, skype, VT, or even a app on youre phone like viber or mobile skype.

All of these have better quality then in game voice chat on pretty much all games.

I don't have a PC I have an iPad, there is no vent on apple store only team speak 3 I think. I asked they told me vent is vent and won't work with team speak 3, so yeah not all of us are rich to just go buy a laptop for vent or whatever. I'm still say it it's a joke the game doesn't have voice chat. Defend the game for the good things it has not for the ones it doesn't.

This was a deliberate decision by Yoshi-P, mainly because he was afraid people would pressure others into making it mandatory.

Well, voice chat was mandatory in my WoW guild for all raids, and this was before it was implemented into the game. We were required to use Ventrilo or we didn't get an invite.

Just think about it a bit.

A topic recently mentioned how they've noticed a lack of tanks. Many commented suggesting its due to the abundance of insults (which is true for any class, just more noticeable for healer/tanks).

I'm sure you don't want to know what would happen with in-game chat. Even if they added a mute feature.

I am sorry but this is just the silly. We cannot have stuff because people might be mean.

-No more gear progression either because people do ask for relic gear on story mode quests and places like Wander's Palace.
-No more chatting period as people are rude we will use predefined chat as used in toon town.
-No more customizing your character at all someone may choose to put INT in on a PLD.
-No housing free company or otherwise someone might be upset that your house is bigger.
-No voice chat people might say mean stuff.

See how that fits up in that list of silly stuff?

People are going to be mean with or without voice chat. That's not a good reason to deny players the use of a very powerful tool.

its bs voice has not been added. for someone to have to set up voice on another system is dumb. what if all pc players had to set up voice on our ps3's just to talk to people? we played our games on pc but had to grab our ps3 controllers to talk to everyone? why not just buy it for the ps3 if that was the case. people buy the game for ps3 to play on the ps3. why the hell should we have to set up other shit just to talk to people in a game thats meant for people to talk to eachother? it is an mmo...

Though I don't necessarily agree with the way that you put it, I do agree with the logic. I my self remade a topic about this unaware it'd been properly done, having done a quick search. Sorry about that.. . Either way there's a petition on the Forum that I fully intend to advertise. Maybe if the vote count gets high enough they'll consider it seriously.

The solution to that would, in my opinion, would be quite simple. Put a little PS or a PC logo next to the players name in Fate. So you could tell when you would or wouldn't be able to communicate with a player. No voice chat is no option if you ask me, it just doesn't feel natural. Even with a USB keyboard plugged in.

Not everybody has that option. I personally have the technology to do most of the things you mentioned. My bandwidth won't allow it, I'm working with a limited bandwidth with very little prospect of an upgrade due to my ISP. Not that I had much option when it came to an ISP that provided for my home. Usually I'd stfu but I happen to know I'm not alone. If you ask me the problems not strictly Squeenix's. At least some of the blame lands with Sony for not representing us properly. Not being demanding enough as it were. They are after all the party involved advertising voice chat on most of their game on a regular basis... Getting the public dependant on the technology... Then miss out on a perfect opportunity to use the facility? I mean literally the perfect opportunity. It's not a problem I thought I would have to address when dealing with Square Enix OR Sony, to be honest.
