1. Login to a game
2. Open in-game calendar
3. See the events your FC has planned for this week
4. Sign up for events you have time available
5. Get approved or declined by event creator
6. Plan your time accordingly
Wouldn't you love to have that?

Well, I don't know. We ask members to post the times they'd be available for certain event and the jobs they have available to use and other important information, then decide the event day and time based on people and jobs available. In game event calendar would be nice though.
totally support this. great idea.
I would love to see an ingame cal. where leadership or authorized ppl in the FC could submit events.
/signed, clearly a nice tool expected in a AAA MMORPG :)
Yeah just like in EVE Online, it will be very very great if we had this too here!
It's not really his idea. WoW has had this for years. FFXIV should've had this from the start.
While we're at it;
- DoT timers
- Functional raid/party UI
- Functional map
- Scalable UI
- In-game damage/healing meters
- Fix combat log to track everything
- Show latency in castbars
- Fix the castingbar on top of focused target
- Allow binds for mw up and down
- Fix tab targeting.
FC websites exist for a reason. While having this function ingame would be nice, can you truly tell me that you would ask SE to budget their programers time to make such an ingame feature that is easily made available in your standard FC website hosting such as guildlaunch? Or have someone who knows some basic HTML/php in the FC code up a simple version for a website that can handle this? Making a simple database to handle a few groups of 8's schedules is not too hard, but for every FC and large scale implementation its a bit more work/time tht FFXIV needs in other places right now.
If we see something like this in game it will be a user made addon, but i'm not even sure if that will be possible as I don't know if the game will have the ability to store such information with addons. But this is an online game, so all have an ISP, and anyone who is so concerned with their time and scheduling shouldn't have an issue logging into a FC website to look at events and sign up.
I would argue quite the opposite.
Generally speaking end-game pve content requires certain level of organization from the players, but it barely provides any tools for that (of course there is "FC topic" and lodestone "fc forum", but functionality is very limited and not very convenient).
Are you really suggesting that every FC should have a website, and on top of that a dedicated web developoer? Are you arguing that every FC building their own tools, is more reasonable than SE doing it once, and providing us with universal tool for all FCs to use? If this is almost a requirement for end-game - it's only logical to have it, in the game.
WoW had ingame calendar for years, tbh when moving on from wow, I couldn't imagine any new mmorpg would not have it, because it was such an important tool, sadly I was proven wrong too many times.
Would be even better to basically have a Free Company only duty finder, where I can set "need" or "available to assist" if needed. Your settings are remembered (even after logging out) and you'll be able to see in the Free Company duty finder which dungeons / duties are needed by FC mates. When 4 (or 8 if needed) FC members are online at the same time they'll be notified by the duty finder and asked if they would like to attend the instance. Obviously "need" gets priority over "available to assist". If a player selects no thanks, the next in the queue gets a notification and so on. If I'm in the middle of something and say no thanks, I should not be notified again unless I open the window, say in 10 - 20 mins time, and click ready - then I should be put back into the queue.
Our Free Company doesn't work well with a calendar as most of us have real life commitments and can't guarantee when we'll be online.
EDIT: That said an in game calendar would always be a welcome addition! Our only option at the moment is the FC website calendar / forum, and as I play on PS3 a lot of the time an in game calendar would be preferable. I think more people would use an in game calendar and be aware of any events.
Shamelessly bumping my own thread.
Totally agree 100% please SE add this!!!!!!
