People get entirely too salty in this game

seriously.

I log into the game, and i need to go kill banemites to get more webs for my weaver and someone is there. Ok fine, they are probably farming. So we start killing and i get more than her and she starts complaining how she was there first blah blah blah.

Right quick things, while there is a In game Etiquette, you do not own a specific mob or area.

Just because i am there, does not mean we can compete for the mobs.

And finally, its just a game, dont get so salty. dang

I can taste sweet too

competition is fine.

I get that persons feeling though when you've been there for a while and someone just comes and overruns you lol. does get a little frustrating.

I got called RMT and a bot (plus some explicits) for outfarming someone on banemites and sheep (I was there first, too)... There is really no call for that. Is it too hard to communicate with someone to work out a way to share the monsters? Like, I'll take these three pops, and you can have those ones? There are plenty of monsters for everyone if we share.

I think you are misinformed, this is 2013, people won't share or help out. It's all a race to the finish, and don't you dare enjoying the journey to 50, don't you dare!

It welcome to the new age. if the the devs team not looking at the there user base and there bigger community and they find the will and way. From the millions of forums or websites. With only one mob type in the game to kill, kill i say fastest to its wins. As long as they are not botting. It up to the subscription fee that were paying for them to fixed those issues now. Or they got to go free to play uggh. No more holding the hands to the companies like the old days. It rough and sucks . Yet in the end we will get a much better product and user base and dev team will all win.

It's fairly obvious to all who have tried to level weaver that diremite webs are a huge bottleneck. There are too few places to collect them, and the mobs from which they drop only drop a limited amount. Diremites are also a hunting log mob, adding to the problem. Thus, they are highly contested because they are, quite frankly, a PITA.

Would it hurt, therefore, for ALL parties to exhibit a bit of community? If you show up and someone is already there farming ALL of them, why not send them a /tell asking if they'd be willing to let you have one or two of the mobs? If you are already there and someone new shows up, why not send then a /tell suggesting "I'll take the two in the valley, you take the two on the hill". Or "I'm only going to be here for another 15 minutes, want me to send you a /tell when I'm done?"

And if you're level 50 and the one who shows up is actually on level (level 20-25ish), would it kill you to just let them have a chance?

I hope, with the adjustments made to the diremite drops on Monday, that some of this bottleneck will be alleviated. Until then, would it hurt for ALL of us to act with a bit more civility?

They are adding new spawn locations for both in a future patch. So its all good. Problem solved.

I've never had a problem with kill sharing. I mean, the game does allow it.

There is no "territory". There is no "Fist come, only served". You get in there and you fight enemies. If someone else pops in for a few minutes, suck it up.

I am aware that there are a lot of different bottlenecks out there but I lvled through diremite pretty easy and saved the ones I did have for HQ's later. I don't like competing while farming although eventually I'll have to. You can get them from leves also.

yeah a buddy of mine was trying to get some web for me so I can make him some gear and another player got mad at them for intruding on their territory :-) It's hard because there is usually a 2-4 people trying to farm them and only a few of them to go around, hopefully the patch fixes it.

I found the same issue getting aldgoat leather although there are more of them so I just moved on when two people came and over took me with their level 50 characters

A good method, when executed properly, is one person tags the mobs while the one with higher dps kills them. Everybody wins (assuming both parties are willing to coordinate).

Also, for on level people, i always tell them they can have it, or kill it after i tag it cause they still get credit. Im always willing to work with nice people.

Another solution to webs is to grab some friends and go run Totorak. Can get quite a few from there if your friends don't mind handing them over to you. Not to mention it goes pretty fast if you're already geared.

it's just too obvious to guess which spot will spawn next if we farmed the spots for several minutes or hours

This, I also have no problem sharing camps w/ppl. Always give priority to lower level players. The fallgourd float area mites are on a long strip and can easily be shared by taking one side of the field or another. I hope patchfix spreads them out more and add more higher level ones in the other area before Coerthas zone line where they are sparse.

If there are more people wanting mobs and I am not there alone, I will only attack one at a time instead of aoe taking multiples and if the mob is so low that aoe is unavoidable, I will let them pick off mobs by essentially waiting until they do, after pointing out that they should. I ask others what they need if I see ppl waiting. Having people cooperating is always my preference over ruining some one's game time.

And please SE, when you make a quest item also a farming item, add more nearby spawns that show on quest map. Its sad watching lower level players try to complete a 4 mob quest while a level 50 steals the mobs out of their hands every time.

I'm honestly torn on this issue. My main is a paladin, rarely do I do enough damage to get enough credit to actually get an item if someone else is farming them. It also takes a while for shield lob to register as a "hit" and so on if I'm trying to tag things. When I got to farm something, I've always kept to a 2-3 mob camp (I don't take up the zone). Usually I have a goal in mind (relative to what I need to level xyz craft) of what I need to get.

If someone comes up and starts taking mobs without saying anything at all to me, I would see that as rude. Thankfully, no one has done that to me yet in game. I've had a few people tag one an move on (which I don't have an issue with) or people whisper me asking when I'll be done, and then I whisper them back as I leave.

On the other hand if someone is taking all the mobs because they can manage to kill them quickly and not sharing spawns, that's a bit of a jerk move too.

oh i miss good old days for older MMOs when i could PK your ass over and over with an guild gank team for being in area i farm in.

Or maybe demand a game that doesn't force people into such banal competitions in the first place. 'Cause, often, it IS too much to ask for such communication when bitterness is so much easier, and that fostered bitterness tends to breed exactly the sentimentalities amongst an entire playerbase that the game fostering them deserves.

Now if somebody could figure how to pun off of umami, they'd win a no-prize.

There are plenty of Banemites. There's a group of three at the bottom of everyone's favorite hill, and 3-4 at the top of the same hill. Then there's two other groups of 3-4 amongst trees in a different area. People just don't want to look for other mobs anymore and it's the same for karakul. The devs should just mail everyone 360 webs and fleece. Lvl 50 crafters are already a dime a dozen and gatherers are getting a buff too.. but where was difficult in leveling?

FF 14 world is tiny compared to most MMOs and it comes to no surprise people are having to fight over a handful of spawns.

My solution is to have instanced based farming zones where people can gather at their own pace with out having some uber dude coming in and taking over all the time.

I'd agree, but FFXIV would probably make it a team event and we would again be confronted with leeches like people who run lvl 50 dungeons and go afk. It takes a community to fix these issues, not a dev team. The only people I can't hold my mobs against are the SMN who have that damage field up directly on spawn areas, but I have only had that issue once and I am more than willing to communicate my expected time to leave and even WILLING to leave if I don't need mats immediately.
