Question about server transfer restrictions

Hello!

I have 2 chars on different servers, one in US other in JP (created during the launch issues). I plan on moving one of them (JP > US) when the server transfers begin soon.

Reading the transfer notice, I see this:

Just to clarify: does this mean I won't be able to login at all? Or I can't/shouldn't log in with the character being transferred? Seeing as it says it can take several days I'm hesitant to do it if it would mean blocking access to my main!

When applying for the World Transfer Service you will not be able to use any of the characters associated with the account of the character you are applying for.

For example, if you have you two service accounts and apply for a world transfer for a character on service account 1, you will not be able to use any characters on that account until the transfer is completed. However, you can still log in with characters on service account 2.

I still wanna know how were going to be able to know if are name is taken in the server were applying to...-.-

Lodestone, just type in the character name in the search bar at the top.

What is the transfer time? Would suck if reset happened and the transfer took many days.

Just like the title says......it stated on the moggle station that characters cannot be transferred to worlds that have reached the character creation limit.......what worlds are those? I would like to transfer to Ultros but it is listed as a crowded world.....does that mean too full or just crowded? Please clarify

This only partially works however. Characters only show up if they have been logged in at least once. It's always possible that somebody made a character to reserve a name, but never bothered to log it in.

I want to move my character to a friends server, but when I checked to see if the name was even available to begin with, it wasn't, despite it not being shown on the lodestone.

I think SE should create a new NA/EU Legacy server as both are currently full so the English Players on JP Legacy Ridill still cannot transfer to Hyperion to meet up with our companies/friends.

It's going to take DAYS to transfer? Sure hope you're freezing subscriptions on accounts that have characters opted for transfer.

How LONG does it take to do a transfer? a day? two days? a week? Do we get a refund for the days lost?

Exactly. Although I do think it is bs that my friends on a legacy server cannot come join us because se is not allowing legacy characters to world transfer. This will more thank likely get them to switch to a different game which will cause most of my fc to leave as well.

Me and some friends planned to change servers on day 1 of transfers. Now im gonna wait 2 - 3 days and see what (if any) problems there might be. Really hope it dont take day/s, if so im gonna have withdrawal symptoms. Please se can you give abit more info on how long it could take to transfer

I want to know if you can transfer then transfer somewhere else shortly after the fact. Even if it's only 1 free but then can transfer after the paid moves start.

I was going to say, just go and find out the hard way ;p Forgot you can just look it up on the Lodestone.

I remember transferring worlds multiple times on XI. Had to change my name each time.... so sad...

We still can't transfer Legacy characters to non-Legacy worlds? I basically created a character in 1.0 JUST to obtain the goober mount, so all I had done on him was CNJ 30 before 2.0. I've been playing on him on Hyperion in the meantime, just waiting till I could transfer to Gilgamesh with a friend who started there. We started playing after the login issues were slowly lifted, and he has accomplished WAY more than I have at this point. Combine that with the fact that my old character had no money on him, no other classes leveled, and that the game has changed so much that I can't even solicit advice to my friend. I don't see what harm there could possibly be in my transferring to his world.

How long are we supposed to wait, another 4-5 months for the nooblets to "catch up"? Most of them are much further along than I am already.

Alas I guess it's too much to ask to allow Legacy transfers on a character-by-character basis...

What i wanna know is why arent server transfers instant? Pretty stupid for it to take days or whatever outside of instant.

As a legacy player I would pay cash to move from Hyperion to a non legacy server to join some friends, who couldn't make characters because of restrictions early on in the game. I don't have a single level 50, fact is the new players do, why do I have to transfer for one crowded server to another?

So, does this mean Legacy server people wont be able to move at ALL? during the free period? that we are just forced to stay in the crowded legacy servers and will NEVER be able to get off them?!
Yes this is definitely not a fun situation for any of us Legacy players. The fact that we arent treated like victims of they whole server debacles from launch really does get under my skin. Ive been waiting for what two months now? to be able for all my friends to come together on one server and we chose Diablos but now I am the only one that wont be able to be there with all of them because im stuck in the hell hole known as Excalibur. Please S.E. we legacy have been with you from the start : \ you never steered us wrong, why are you choosing now to suddenly drop us down the f- you hole...

Will quests that we have be retained through the transfer? There was nothing about this on the "Things" that would be kept on transferring.

Should have been done when you launched the new data center/worlds and BEFORE you started selling the bloody game again...nothing but congestion and 90k errors STILL. The game is great, it really is, but the connections and server issues are all just one giant cluster F*** with a good majority of it being caused by botters. They have free run of the place and doesn't seem like much is being done about it. I have no deletes in my B-List with filed reports on all of them since opening day and not just spammers but also the gathering cheaters. World Transfer may take several days, as many have asked, so we get a refund on that time right? we get notified via email of when its complete, YA RIGHT! Hate to break it to you, BUT I haven't received any email confirmation from square yet with the exception of your taking my money for the month. This going back to SE was suppose to send out emails letting everyone know they can register their E.A. Code. So how will I know when I can log in again?

Under normal circumstances they probably would be, but they're going to likely have thousands of players all trying to transfer at once, and the system can only process so many at a time.

As for things like why legacy can't go to non legacy, it's because of the economy. Sure, they have gil restrictions and such in place already, but it doesn't stop people from being able to stock up on items to flood newer markets with.

Ok I have a question about server transfer. So I have a friend that had to make a toon on another server so I made one on that server to play with him till he could transfer to play with my guildies and I. But I have so much time invested into this toon now that I want it to be my main. Will it be possible for me to transfer this toon to server that I already have a character on?

If you have standard sub (e.g. NOT an entry level one permiting only 1 character per server) and you don't have 8 characters already on the target server then yes indeed.

In WoW when server transfers first came it took around a day for the transfer to work. Now days its less than an hour.

If it takes more than a day here, the service is abysmal.

What happen if I want to transfer from crowded world to medium populated world and somehow the destination world become unavailable because of population fluctuation.

Can I go back to my previous server ? Or I will asked to choose another world because my previous world already crowded and probably not available as destination ?

I wasn't able to select the server of my choice when I created my character (I did try clicking on Shiva but it wouldn't select) and as such just went with the default selected server of Durandal, which just happens to be a legacy server.

My question is simple, am I trapped on this server (or another legacy server) because I was not able to select the server I wanted even though I only started playing after 2.0 was released?

Yes, you can only go from legacy to legacy.

Even though you had no choice at default. Many of us are in stuck in that situation with SE not offering any solutions at the moment..

Economy? Not really a valid reason.

I've played FFXI for 5 1/2 years and i still recall when SE released the game to its EU/NA customers and we were thrown in with the JP players that had been playing for close to 2 YEARS and had amassed gil and were geared to the teeth when all the EU/NA players joined. All the EU/NA players never said anything and we got on with it and it all worked out fine.

So this economy reasoning goes out the window.

Have to agree same here on masamune.

Way to screw over legacy players.. Its starting to feel like Legacy is a curse rather than a reward.

Same here, I want to go to Behemot with my main Character. I already have created a char on it, but its listed as a crowded server. So, I need to know if this transfer is possible...

What? That's not even remotely the same thing as this. What you're describing is the same as a new player choosing to play on a legacy server.

It is NOT the same as suddenly dumping hundreds of millions of gil into a different server.

Except that, like others have been pointing out, there is most likely going to be thousands of transfers to get through. Now, there may well be less, and then it will be faster, but also when WoW introduced it, it was not free. There will be people taking advantage of this just because they can. You know people are free stuff.

this sucks. as i accidently transfered a 1.0 mule to the wrong server because i forgot to check retainers before i transfered it so now i can not transfer to the correct server 4 free because of creation limit thats crap.

I am so glad I waited for 2.0. Early last year I was debating if I should make a 1.0 account to get legacy. Now I am happy that I didnt :D

when na joined 11 they raised the lvl cap from 50 to 75 so BAM gear reset.

Has anything been mentioned about the wait time involved between transfers? If someone pays for one transfer, how long until they can pay for another? Is it immediate, a few days, a few months, etc?

XI was something like 3 months, which was absolutely horrible.

I want to transfer but there it isnt open yet at mogstation...

Its been the "15th" for damn near 6+ hours now... Why can I still not transfer wtf.

Inb4 "we are sorry, we're going to have to push the date back end of October early November."

I really hope SE reads this, 3 months for a transfer cool down is stupid when you have to PAY $25 per xfer.
