Population area cap for each Field....

Here is the scoop guys for those who didn't catch this new change next week.
In WAR server crashed at endgame when players all gathered in a cell to cap the MAIN
CITY in PVP their solution was to level cap the Population to keep the server from crashing. Rage insued because players couldn't enter the MAIN battle in WAR....it didn't bother me so much but some people just quit.

In FFXIV here it is....this is an implementation to CAP the pop when Odin and other level 50 Boss spawn so that the server doesn't crash they will keep the cell under a certain number so first come first serve. My guess this is going to change dramatically where ODin and Behemoth Spawn now hell it might even be an instance which would solve the server crash problem....

The way it worked in FFXI and a number of other games, is that many instanced fights are done in the same field, but just set farther apart so you don't actually interact with other people in that field.

So I think it may be more likely that they're just talking about making it so that there is a population cap on the fields so that a larger number are used, possibly using more of the servers they're implementing, so as to avoid server hiccups.

Or they could just make Odin pop in multiple zones at once, or more often. I mean... he drops gear that isn't great statwise, but looks cool.

So technically I might not be allowed to enter Cortheas to quest/level since the field is overpopulated with Behemoth camping?
Additionally, I will not be able to enter Mor Dhona to quest/level since the field is overpopulated with people shouting for end game content??

If they instance it, then it won't be bad. Maybe do something like Dragon's Dogma, where there was a boss that spawned once a week, and though you were not online, you participated in killing the boss overall with other people.

If they just lock you out, people are going to be angry. And it probably won't stop the Troll AOE people.

Are you talking about separate "channels" for each zone?

If they capped certain areas South Shroud, Ceruleum Processing Plant, Aleport, and many other areas would be impossible to complete quests in because of all the fate parties running around.

If they do "cap"zones and for a certain amount of time people will be unable to enter a zone it will be one of the most STUPID AND RETARDED things this Dev team has ever done period

Without knowing what the cap will be and how many servers (aside from Hyperion) are having crashing issues it just sounds like people are (once again) being dramatic.

I know I've been around for a half dozen or so kills on Diabolos for both and aside from a few spots here and there with rendering I've not seen anything worth getting worked up over.

They need to try something, and there is no one solution that the community has really rallied behind. There may be a trial and error period until they figure out what works best for the greatest number of people.
