There is a thread for this, also if it means people can actually see fate bosses, then by all means yes.
That awkward moment where you realize you can't log in due to the population cap of the zone you logged out in.

I can see this becoming a huge problem, people idling in Coerthas 24/7, waiting for Behemoth, locking everyone else out of the zone. It's just 1017 AFK in a different form coming up.
Hopefully it means a population cap of the FATE zone, and not the entire region.
I can't imagine developers going with the latter..
Most likely its channels once one is full switch to the next.
Maybe there will be a "backup" server like GW2 (Overflow)?
I can't see a population cap of an entire region working especially in a place like Coerthas where you have people afk idling for FATEs yet so much integral story line stuff going on as well. The EG community shouting in Mor Dhona could put a real slow down on anyone needing to get into the area for story cs and quests for example. Will be interesting to see how this feature pans out.
i enjoy this game, and play during off peak hours. but man... of this is a zone cap, the amount of shitstorm that's gonna follow is gonna be unstoppable
If they have overflow/instanced zones this will be a good... no, GREAT thing. However, with all the other lazy decisions I have seen in this game I would imagine they will instead simply lock the zone out. With the way FATEs work, that will again cripple things.
I'm not a big fan of zone channels, to be honest. The fact that if we're in an area we'll be seeing everyone that is there is what makes me not mind the instancing of the world. It feels a bit more alive and not just a lobby.
As the issue is with culling on Behemoth and Odin fates, I sincerely hope that what they mean with a zone cap is that there will be a cap on the amount of people that can come near said fates at any given moment, at least until less people needs/wants to do said fates for the equipment. Or at least that the zone cap is just for those servers that were crashing because of everyone going into the same zone (and that would mean that it would be a pretty big cap).
Expecting shouts like "Leave the area if you cannot kill Odin/Behemoth!!!!!!!!!!1111"
They could just upgrade their servers to handle the stress from the Fates instead of punishing players for doing what's intended.
