Legacy Servers not transfering to non-legacy?

I currently reside on the legacy server Ridill in Japan, and at first I didn't have any qualms about playing on it due to there being considerably less spam and an overall gentler community. Unfortunately though, all of the end-game I'm noticing consists of Japanese Free Companies that pretty much require that you're not limited to Auto-translate and the fact that you're only on late at night for them. This coupled with the fact that my friend currently resides on the Shiva server in the US made me excited when I heard that free transfers would be occuring in a few days.

World Transfers

Then I saw the dreaded text stating that they want to allow the non-legacy server economies to stabilize and therefore won't be allowing players to transfer from legacy to non-legacy. I understand the reasoning, but does this mean I can't transfer there even if I were to pay for the service?

Well, if just paying some bucks to be able to transfer from legacy to non-legacy, then the economy of non-legacy servers would rapidly increase so I doubt SE will ever allow that.

They should allow and make legacy players lose 50% of their assets upon transfer.

Does this mean I can never transfer to a non-legacy because I would probably abandon this character at that point.

@LordSideKicks: They have already limited assets for legacy players, but I'm just a player who joined a Legacy server in Japan on the day after release since all of the servers were full. The limits they've placed on the free transfer don't even affect me since my total gil is around the 180k range (the limit is 3 million on the character and 1 million on every retainer).

But I'm guessing Lordsidekicks is joking since it really wouldn't hurt the extremely wealthy characters but only devastates the poorer players who barely survive with what they have.

While everyone wants to say how transferring Legacy players over to non-Legacy would be the end of the economy (apparently they haven't seen that Yoshi himself admitted the Devs bumbled the economies across the board by overly-harsh gil sinks/measures - something he also said they will be making amends to) there really isn't any harm at this point. They just don't like it. However, regardless if they like it or not it was already confirmed and said multiple times that Legacy would be able to move over to non-Legacy. It was also said that it most likely would be at a delayed date from the initial world servers.

Personally I think since most server economies are already suffering deflation (as noted by Yoshi) that at this point just let Legacy over. But that's obviously not mine or anyone's decision but the Devs.

Bottom line is you will eventually be able to move from Legacy to non-Legacy. The timeline is the question.

I was thinking abt the overly wealthy players. Not the peasants. Most probably 6 months or later?

This is INCORRECT.

Transfers off legacy worlds will be possible in the future, just NOT RIGHT NOW. So much minsinformation going around here.

Also, I don't understand why, if you desire to transfer to be with a friend, why your friend can't simply transfer to your world instead of the other way around?

It might have had something to do with the things he mentioned about not liking the server he's on. The fact that he had a friend on another server just gave him a specific destination instead of an "anywhere but here" destination.

Thats an argument i've never been able to understand. In the grand scheme of things, outside of a personal preference as to whether your world is highly populated or more quiet, every server is just as good or bad as the next one. If you "hate your server" youre not going to like another one any better.

Easy solution, you transfer from Legacy JP to Legacy NA/EU, your friends transfer from Non-Legacy NA/EU to Legacy NA/EU. Though due to the fact that Legacy servers economies are mature, stable and cheap I can see more people wanting to get on Legacy than get off (why pay 5m for Materia when you only need to pay 500k on Legacy.........) so really, Non-Legacy to Legacy shouldn't be allowed as it gives Non-Legacy an economic advantage.......

Does this apply to only true legacy characters? Or does it apply to 2.0 characters rolled on a legacy server as well?

I think it should be determined by levels of your character and not that fact it's on a legacy server. My new character out levels my 1.0 character and has more gil so in no way would my 1.0 character have any effect on the economy.

Any characters made on the server, since even if it's a new character, you are exposed to the economy.

After patch 2.2 or 2.3, when SE feels the Economys of the various worlds have caught up to the Economy of the Legacy Worlds, the Restriction on Transfering off Legacy will be removed, and the term Legacy may even be removed from Worlds.

Im not sure what your smoking, but ive never seen Materia for 500k on my non legacy server.

Tier 3 Materia - 20k now
Tier 4 Materia last ones i saw were 200-300k i think it was ?

Me? You're right, I was way off the mark. Each IV Materia on my server is 60k (Crafting) so I want to add two to each of my gear, that's 120k per piece. 12 slots (including accessories) for (24*60k=)1,440,000 gil. On Phoenix the same material is 340,000 each, again the requirement is 12 for a total of (24*340k)8,160,000, so yes, my estimate for legacy was a bit low, but then my estimate for non legacy was also low. So yes, I can add 2 IV material to each bit of my GSM gear for 6.7m gil cheaper.

And no, you can't come legacy, buy our cheap stuff then go to a non-legacy.

There is a solution to allow legacy -> non legacy transfer without ruining non legacy world economy:

1. Every single item owned by character becomes character bound and unsellable. EDIT: items crafted from bound materials also become bound.
2. Limit of gil that can be transferred. The newer the world, the lower limit if trasfer (ranging from 100k to 300k i think)
3. Limit the number of classes higher than lvl 15 to transfer. For example the limit to transfer to Odin would be 3 dow/dom, 2 doh and 1 dol. Less for fresher servers. Other classes will be reduced to lvl 15.
4. Only currently equipped armoury items transfer. The average item level for transfered job must not exceed the average item level of 10th player (itemlevel-wise) in the destination world on the same job/class. Materia melded in items increases its item level for this calculation.

I see this suggestion alot and all it really does is support my theory that it's not the economy people care about at all. Limiting character levels and transferable items... Guess noone follows the ideology of 'what's good for the goose is good for the gander'. Mayhaps they should apply these limits to every transfer? See how quickly that flies, eh? The problem people have with 1.0 characters seems pretty clear to me. "You have nice things that I don't, I don't want you to have them anymore."

jist get your friend to transfer to a levacy na server and transfer there too. Whats the problem?

@demise: the trouble is every legcay server are already populated, more than new server.
worst 2 of the NA/eu legacy server are pointed as crowned server. leaving 3 server for transfert!

they need to add a new server for legacy transfert a new one!

Oh yeah and the fact that it IS such a big issue and SE hasn't acknowledged it; instead they willing choose to ignore it. They could easily take the opportunity to wipe out rumors, explain in detail the 'why's, and give us a time frame. 1-3 month wait might calm a few. If they are talking 6 months to a year, at least some of us would know to head out for good.

And we all know that ignoring the players is what works right SE?

While I absolutely sympathize, that's sort of what you signed up for when you chose to be on a Japanese server.

Actually, many of us didn't sign up to be on a Japanese server during 1.0, we signed up on servers that had unofficial titles like Unofficial RP server (sort of what Balmung became for US players) or, in the case of Ridill, unofficial XI server (back when it was called Selbina, after the XI town of the same name we assumed). It was only in the division of data centers that Ridill became a Japanese server. For a time we had the option to transfer off the server before things were set for Phase 4 and release, but it wasn't a long window and clearly some missed it. I, myself, was someone who played on Ridill during 1.0 and almost missed the transfer window. I wanted to make sure my linkshell would be waiting on the server I was moving to. Joke was on me, only a couple transfered, the rest remade on Midgardsormr. Now I'm stuck on Balmung until I can transfer again.
