What healing abilities would you like to see?

So, patch 2.1 is coming up relatively soon where we'll get some new stuff (crystal tower, housing, etc.), but I'm looking farther ahead towards the first level cap increase. I've heard for summoners they're planning to add a new egi, but what healing abilities would you like to see then?

I'm a white mage, and plan to level Scholar at some time, but I really only have one want for white mage in the future. I would like see Full-life/Arise. Because Raise already takes a full quarter of my MP with an 8 sec. cast time, Arise would probably have to be on a cooldown, like benediction. It could be wrapped into a trait for raise, but I think that would be a little OP.

There are also the abilities from actually leveling CNJ and ACN, in addition to the Job abilities to think about. So we'll probably have something like 4 new abilities and 1-3 traits.

What skills/traits would you like to see in the first level cap increase?

Well during that one story mission where you fight side by side with cid if you pay attention he uses a heal on you and himself called Aqua Vitae idk if this is indication of a new base class or job with another heal ability or not but its a possibility.

Would love to see something like a reraise as now if healer dies in a lot of fights it is pretty much the end of that try.

Aoe removal of effects for higher cost.

More variation in healing skills like single target heal with regen for example. Or regen that works different in small to larg hps or the other way around.

Certain traits like if you crit heal target in party with lowest hitpoints get healed for a proportion aswell.

More instant heals or expensive heals with shorter cast time.

Overall coming from WoW i find healing atleast on white mage a bit boring but that is also because of how the endgame mechanics are made with all the running, sometimes hard to heal effecient in between running for your life.

On whm I would like to see:

Reraise
Reactive single/group heals
HoT with splash healing
Ground based AE heal
Group Cleanse

I would like to see an Ability that extend your next Healing Spell / Buff spell or Esuna to an AoE.
A Sacrifice ability could also be cool, something like ''Lose 50% of remaining HP and heals the target for double amount''

I would like to see for Whm: Reraise like others have suggested, Sacred Prism from 1.0 (good for getting stoneskin, cure 2, whatever spells on everyone) and Rebirth from 1.0 as well. Rebirth was a spell that brought someone back to full hp and without sickness I think. I don't expect it to act the same. Maybe a 5min cd or something.

For Sch: Reflect/Shell, Dispel and possibly Aura. Reflect or Shell I see more like Succor or Adloquium that can put a magic barrier that can reflect a portion of damage back to the caster. Dispel speaks for itself. Aura possibly something that can increase spell speed, magic power, attack power and skill speed for 10-15 seconds or something. 5 min cd.

I'm not for sure that they would have to be exactly that and everything determines on cool down and cast time, but those are what I'd like to see.

More damage prevention mechanics for my SCH, Possibly a single target, short duration defense / mdef buff. I would also like to see more ways of obtaining Aetherflow charges, and more creative and unique ways of using them. Everything about a SCH revolves around damage prevention, so why not give them more tools to make them better at it, and increase the skill cap so you can really tell the difference between a good sch, and a terrible one.

Another thing I would like to see on SCH is more offensive ways of reducing damage done or inflicting status effects. Shadow flare and Ruin II are awesome, but how about something that inflicts amnesia, silence, or some other status effect whose purpose it is to reduce damage done by a boss or mob.

You know what I think is quite silly, that the best Single Target Mitigation Heal doesn't belong to the Mitigation Healer.

I would like to see for SCH:

-A buff (single target buff), that when the target is hit it has a chance to proc a shield on the buffed target.
-Lustrate also healing splash healing around the tank for a percentage healed
-A Buff (like protect) that increases hp/stats/mp regen that can be used by whm without the mp regen (that should be traited like magic portion of protect)
-Single target INT buff- that when the buffed target crits with a spell, it increases either your INT or Crit for a small amount of time
-Addition of group shield to pet abilities, giving it an AE regen heal and an AE shielding skill

i want some form of crit boost for scholar even if it's a copy pasta of internal release ala raging strikes--> fight or flight

also SE said when they announced scholar that it would be a heal over time healer??????????????????

All would be ST only, and probably wouldnt stack with each other. Although multiple scholars could put one up on the same target, so long as they arent the same buff.

Earthen Wall (would probably not stack with Sacred Soil)
A force crit ability for arch that relied on aether. 10 sec CD.
And a splash heal of some kind.

I've seen a number of requests for an AoE Esuna/Leeches, so what what would be better for that, a new AoE skill with a range like Medica, or to just improve Esuna with a trait like with Sleep->Deep Sleep? I would definitely prefer the route of a Medica range skill, but even with a splash trait we could at least handle two paralyzed/poisoned tanks at once, instead of doing each individually.

Reraise/Auto-Life would be awesome, but I can't think of how they would balance it without it seeming underwhelming. If it was something like 3-2.5 sec cast time and same or lower mp cost than raise with a 10-30 sec duration seems balanced to me but a little underwhelming because then I have to predict which party members are going to die, which of course ideally they wouldn't. It would still be nice, so I could spend 1GCD on effectively raising a dps that happened to, say, get hit by one of Hydra's fireballs and continue healing the tank while they die from the heavy DOT. On the other hand, if it had a duration in minutes, then I would just apply it to every one at the start of a fight and would probably never have to cast Raise ever again, unless they made a boss where this was necessary or I just had someone that kept failing to dodge things. How would you balance/implement this?

Sacred Soil grants a small Regen while inside it, make it worth using a little more.

Cure/Stoneskin/Regen were able to be AoE'd by using an ability called Sacred Prism back in 1.0, if anything i'd like that skill to make a return, along with another useful MP restore skill they took out of 1.0 called Blissful Mind, seeing them brought back would make me very happy. :)

1. A less efficient, shorter cast time heal with no CD (Flash from WoW)
2. Chain heal
3. Reactive heal (stack)
4. HoT that does not generate so much aggro
5. Splash heal (Heals for full amount on target, less on nearby players)
6. Instant cast heal that does not invoke GCD
7. Death-prevention buff that, when the target takes a hit which would kill them, instead puts them at half health. Needs a significant CD, and target immunity CD obviously
8. More interesting mechanics than spamming Cure I and hoping for a situational free Cure II, etc.

Healing feels sluggish, stressful, and dreary with long cast times, long GCD, (way too aggressive with the GCD in the first place) and being railroaded into a single, lackluster 'free heal' mechanic. Give us finer tools to perform our roles, not just spamming the same clunky vanilla heal and hoping to god it lands in time. This role doesn't feel heroic; it feels primitive and clunky, and somehow stressful and boring at the same time.

I would like to see a power heal, like a near full heal or at least around 50-60% of a tanks health - obviously costly to use with a longer cast time but would be a nice method for dealing with big incoming hits rather than spamming! =D

Autoregen...

Single target Haste with a cooldown, you could use it to help tanks grab initial agro quickly, then save it for burn phases, or cast it on cooldown for the DPS increase, or use it on yourself for a nasty spike damage phase.


It doesn't match any FF spells, but I absolutely love the mechanics of prayer of mending in WoW. For those that don't know its a buff that heals on hit then jumps to a nearby party member till they get hit and continues to jump 5 times or so.


I also love an ability I know I'll never see again. In EQ clerics had an ability that would average out the health of the group, so for example say the tank takes 400 damage, you hit the ability and suddenly everyone took 100 damage instead (4 man group). Their was no agro since you weren't actually healing, it was a great OH $!@& button, and you could use it to take full advantage of the incredibly efficient group heals.


Also I would like to see Reraise with appropriate cooldowns.

What happened to Shell? Lol

Haste would be more a time mage skill. A skill that evens out HP would be nice however.

I think the Adloquium/Succor bubbles should get an additional heal for half of the initial heal amount if/when they are absorbed/dispelled by incoming damage. This would make them much more worth the inefficient mana cost.
