Last night I was in a Haukke Manor DF party with a MNK decked out in relic gear, obviously level 50. At each and every possible turn he made an open effort to be as annoying as possible, and all but sabotaged the boss fight at the end by constantly running in saying 'we'll be fine lol' before we could even discuss how to fight her (we had a couple new people). After the 4th wipe the tank and I left, as he was blaming everyone else for the wipes, responding with 'u mad?' when confronted about it. Is this the kind of people waiting for me at endgame?

Ofc such ppl won´t wait for you at 50. It´s not their attitude to wait for anyone.
Every comunity real life or not does have honest People, happy People, dumbasses, flamers, hardworking ppl, leechers and much more. Why should that be different here?
Make some good choices in BL, FL and FC and you can have the comunity you want. No Utopia available. -

If I had to guess, it's a guy who's trial period is nearly up and intends to quit. If he was in the AF starter gear, then he probably recently hit 50 and realized he didn't care about end-game progression. I'm only 38 though, so that's just my speculation. He could have been trying to run a buddy through, but the story doesn't support that idea. Short answer, I'm sure there are fools out there and you will encounter them, but I wouldn't expect this type of behavior to represent the greater population.

As an inside joke, he constantly tried to pull hate on minor bosses. As a counter-joke I deliberately let the coerl boss take him. Now, when the healer kept trying to keep him up, I had to apologize for not filling him in on the gag. Now, we were sailing through this run and everyone was in high spirits. With that in mind I figured a little light humor was appropriate. The healer (once told) laughed as well. There's an example of how detrimental behavior can be intentional but for a good reason. It was on a bonus boss and an easy one. In retrospect, I should have let the healer know before so he didn't panic lol, but frankly, I was hoping my brother would KO. I hope no one was there and thinks Im an ass.

I tanked Haukke for a FC member with a couple DF randoms last night. I marked everything to make things easier, because I prefer to tank like everyone else is new to whatever instance I'm in. With 90 minutes on the clock, there is no reason to rush anyhow. All of us made simple mistakes here and there, but we always laughed it off. We wiped the first time on the final boss because of a missed heal followed immediately by a missed dodge. Once again, we just laughed it off and went right back in. The final boss was owned the second time, and everyone seemed happy with the run.
Note that I was 39 PLD going in, and had been grinding fates for 40 to continue the story. I got to 40 during this run, thus avoiding any more fates for a little while.
I always treat people the way I want to be treated, and I tank the way I would want someone to tank for me. If someone treats me negatively, I just continue trying to work with them until time runs out, or they stop trying. There is no point arguing with someone who seems to want to turn a dungeon run into verbal PVP.
I have yet to see what happens when time does run out, or people give up. Neither has happened so far :) -

There is probably a reason a lvl50 is running haukke when it does not give him any tangible benefit to his endgame progression (there are no special crafting materials obtained from haukke). At end-game, you are essentially learning to master the primal HM fights to get your relic weapon and run the raid, coil of bahamut. You are also collecting tokens for darklight gear (which is almost mandatory for coil runs). Assuming he was in his full monk kit, he is most likely during the phase of grinding primal fights and CM dungeons or might be waiting to finish the story. Either way, that player is an exception and likely someone who has stopped end-game progression.
You are correct in assuming that monk is going out of their way to not make any progress on his character and troll people. I can't say for certain this behavior came from FFXIV specifically, although it is definitely stereotypical mmo end-game behavior. Most end-game players I've played with after wiping 3-4 times and realizing it is an untenable group, will simply call the dungeon over and requeue. They don't always say thanks or are happy about it, but they don't troll like that either. -
