(Yeah I ripped the name from the PlayOnline feature "Friend List Plus")
Before I delve into the details, I'll tell you off the bat that many of these features come from "Real ID", developed by that "other game company" (Blizzard).

I was thinking today about something I thought I heard that would be making it into FFXIV. Maybe I am crazy, but I thought they said there would be a way to communicate cross game between FFXIV and FFXI, or at least carry over your friend list. Thinking about this more and more lead to this idea.
I basically want a complete overhaul to the friends list, and to some aspects of FFXIV, FFXI, and all other online games SE produces. This is asking a lot, and I do not expect all of it, if any to be implemented. Especially with the game in the state it is, maybe later down the road.
Here is what I have in mind:
-Fix the issues people had and still have with the original system off the bat Instead of sharing your real name, let people assign an alias to their account.
-Final Fantasy XI / Final Fantasy XIV (And possibly all other SE MMO) cross game chat Allow me to chat with my friends playing FFXI while I am playing FFXIV.
-Cross Server Chat Friends transfer server, or pick a different one all together? Allow me to communicate with them cross-server through this feature.
-Cross Server Dungeon Finder Integration I know that cross server dungeons are still being considered. It would be cool if I could form a group with people from my friends list that are on other servers and do dungeons with them, even prioritize friends over random people.
-Forum Integration Ever meet someone on the forums that you would really like to chat with in game? Allow people to add others to their friends list from the forums.
-Expand the Black List/Ignore system Hey, you might want to put me on ignore just for suggesting something like this. If I ignore someone in game or on the forums, allow me the option to ignore them completely. Allow me to ignore their in game chat, forum posts, and don't assign me to their group in the random dungeon finder, all in one.
-Invisible Status If I don't want people bothering me, allow me to go invisible and not show me online on other people's friend lists.
-Mobile Friendly Website to Access my Friend List Plus Or even an app for iPhone/Android! If I want to chat with my friends at work or let them know I can't make it to an event, it would be cool to be able to communicate with my in-game friends from outside FFXIV/FFXI.
-Chat Window with multiple friends Allow me to be able to open a chat window and invite friends into a sort of in game chat room.
This is a lot, I know! I still think it would be really cool if we could have these things sometime.

"How would this work?" - Square-Enix already has SE accounts in place where your FFXIV and FFXI accounts are linked to, opt into "Friend List Plus" through your SE account and assign an alias. Tada!
"Arghhh Final Fantasy Facebook, {No thanks.}" - Allow the option to opt in/out of it so you don't have to participate in this.
"Get your Blizzard out of my Square-Enix!" - This is how MMOs evolve over the years, by learning from other publishers and listening to the players opinions. (Yeah, I may be overwhelmed with {No thanks.} and you are all entitled to your own opinions, my opinion is this is a great idea.)

I agree with everything beside Cross-server dungeon we don't need all that does it make players lazy because if they add cross server dungeon with friendlist they going to have one that you can just sit in the city craft and then wait 5-1+hours just to get teleport to a dungeon then you have ninja lot problems and many other issue.
I play blizzard for 2months and i hate the system i meet more players outside my own world that i never get to play with beside just doing dungeon with them too i pass them in level or they do to me. -

- Online players on top
- Show current class rank and zone
- Make it much smoother than it is now.
- Add "alias or nicknames" cause typing out someone's full name is annoying.
Excellent suggestion brought on by WoW that lets its players chat with friends playing Starcraft II and in the future Diablo III. This will bridge the communities of all your games.Quote:

Not exactly sure that this is feasible. It would have to find a way to be tagged along with the Dungeon finder below. Players within the dungeons can send each other tells (regardless of server) but once they leave they cannot interact anymore.Quote:

This again, is taking the Cross Server Dungeon Finder concept to another level by letting you prefer certain players. As I said above, it might be really hard to do and I'm skeptical that SE devs could do Cross Server Dungeons correctly at all.Quote:

Excellent idea. But go a step further with it; not just Friends List management on the forums/lodestone. How about some Linkshell management as well? Add, remove, promote, demote, etc etc.Quote:

This goes back to what people are suggesting on the forums in the form of Authenticators for iOS/Android devices. Great idea. Lemme use the security code from my phone, access friends list management and linkshell management options. But im gonna go farther with it. How about letting me access my retainer's item list so that I can see what sold. Gonna go farther... Lemme set things to sell from that list.Quote:

Er... You don't need a window for that. Players just need the ability to create and enter chat channels (possibly password protected).Quote:

In regards to the windows... I would love if Tells themselves popped out as IM windows and stacked along the left side of the screen. Can resize and remove etc. This of course would be a toggle for those that don't like it.

Look on the left and you will see a chat window with Starflare (Star Flare on FFXIV). If someone else sent me a tell, another window with that person's name would show up above Starflare's window etc etc.
Anyways, thats all for now. I'm sure I've missed something so I'll follow the thread in case I remember.

Edit: Btw, I'm of the opinion that the more basic features and conveniences that SE takes from Blizzard, the better off this game will be. Such features don't need to be reimagined or reinvented, they work already - just implement it. -

there really no need for cross server FFXI you allow to add anyone in playonline and then send them MSG :) there you go but doing event with cross servers no thanks.

As far as cross server chat, that is one of the features I miss from the old PoL system, and I do have friends that play on other servers, I personally would get a lot of use out of it.Quote:

Just because you find no need for Cross Server dungeons doesn't mean they shouldn't add them Zenaku. Other players would like it if there was a bigger pool of players to queue with in order to get random dungeons out of the way.

I meet more friends in other worlds and get to know them more then players in my own world and all we can do is dungeon together that or make a char on there world to play together.Quote:
