At first I wasn't going to post this. I saved it just in case. But since I saw a few posts with the same kind of feel I changed my mind. First of all, this might sound like an "I'm a <this job> I obviously know better." kind of post. And its not, I hold no degree, rank or accreditation that makes my opinion greater than another's. We stand on the same floor.

I'm kind of curious about what people do outside of Final Fantasy. I understand that many are upset at the less then timely, or possibly shallow updates that have happened so far. I kind of wish I could run a poll, because it kind of seems far too often that those who are demanding, requesting, or suggesting to SquareEnix have a poor concept of the work effort that would go into some of their ideas. I'm sure there are those who simply don't know, but I'm also sure that there are those who think they can "just do it". As if there was some magical instantaneous developer button.
I do agree that SE has just about run out of "Please be patient~" tokens. But I also think some people need to consider things like the corporate hierarchy of channels that a development team has to wade through to get things done aside from the creation itself. I guess this is kind of a rant more than a proposed question or conversation, but feel free. I just figured, there's three kind of "requestees" out here right now. The level headed patient suggestions. The ones far too "early" to understand the development process. And those of a related industry or profession. Simply put, I understand the disapproval of current conditions; yet I don't understand the belief that anything from dynamic battle content to aesthetically pleasing animations can be formed and rolled out in the instant of a players whim. A lot of this is in regards to these, for the most part, "ultimatum" requests I see people posting.
Well, at least you can hope we get more attention after SE announced they've canceled several titles that were in the works. Especially after the supposed claim that they had more in development than Activision. The hope is that they've put too much after fail recovery money and time into this to kill it.

OK.... what was the purpose of this thread. So far the title doesn't fit the topic. Anyway... I work part time as a bag girl in a supermarket. I went to a technical high school, one that required a form and interview. While there I took trade courses in computer aided drafting, graphic Arts. And for my academic mostly similar to a typical HS minus I also took small business management, and media production.

The devs are workong on this game and people seem to act like they know better. Or claim to work in gaming (off the record I counted 40 ppl claiming to be in the gaming field) And assume or make suggest w/o really understanding the art of game design or the process, but act like they do. P4retty much also states there is more then just code fixes or to add stuf then upload it, that there is alot of red tape before anything gets added.
Thats what I got I hope this helps ppl who were the smart mouths in school who couldn't give a rats butt about anything. -

I work a 10-12 hour job every single day. I wake up at 2am and get home any time from 12-2pm. I throw newspapers, lol. I have to manage two paper routes, about 350 every day, and 450 on Sundays. I am also on redelivery, so I have to answer to calls from 8am-10:30am to people that didn't get their paper on other nearby routes. So yeah, this is my crap job for the time being, I'm looking for a new one, but no luck yet.
Aside from that, I go to school every Monday for a 3 hour class. 7pm to 10pm. Taking up Accounting: Book Keeping. In Fall, I am hoping to take night classes on Thursdays and Fridays for Accounting 124 and Quickbooks. Other than that, I have to find a Math class so I can get General Education out of the way.
I'm also on the job 24/7 365/y with my girlfriend, but that's a job i love the most, so its not much of a job at all. She keeps me going! :) -

Corporate side is probably most responsible for this game's current state (I assume). Why else would they release a game with such glaring technical issues and engine problems if not to rush the game out before Catacylsm, Rift, Tera, etc., as well as get the game out before the holidays

I'm a PHP programmer. Was unemployed from november to april, that's how I got two rank 50s lol. Currently working 8:30AM 5:30PM, then go to college at night, System Analysis. My free time is literally zero during the weekdays, I'm trying my best to play FFXIV during the few minutes I'm home and awake but so far I've been barely able to join my linkshell's NM hunts ;_;. I literally wake up=>do all those things everyone does in the morning (?),=> go to work (which is in a dif town)=> go to college=>go home=>dinner=>MAYBE read FFXIV forums or something else in the internet if I'm not sleepy=>rinse and repeat. >_>

I work full time job selling appliances at home depot :O. The funny thing is I have a degree in network admistration. Job market being what it was when I got done with school I was forced into retail. It really sucks.
Somewhat off topic, but I think this is my last semi-active post. I've decided to take a break from the game at least until 1.18 comes out. Sorry SE, but you lost another one; been playing since wave 1 alpha too :(. -

I kind of declared this as a rant in my initial post. So I'm kind of amused it got so many replies. A like even. (I lol'd). I'm sure it's one of those dislike situations anyways. I don't really know how to rephrase it other than "Where do you get off acting that way?". I'm not trying to down peoples "I feel like I had a good idea~!" emotion. I support it in all its forms. I just kind of wish some gave deeper thought to the things that the suggest before they suggest them. It's like...constructive criticisim. Not many are giving square that. They're just giving them those "I think you did it wrong, so do it my way..." demands.

I guess I could put it this way. How are we helping square make the game better? Or, how can we? Instead of being sore and making it just sound upset that we think Square's done us wrong.
Consider it motivation to aid them rather than flood them with requests. They want to listen to the player base. But think of it this way. The more we load on their plate, the more they have to think about and consider the new ideas. It can draw their attention away from some things. -

So I could tell you about what goes on behind the scenes with the servers and what not, but as for the actual that goes into the game, I don't have a damn clue beyond the few programming classes I've taken, haha.

I'm going to school full time for my B.F.A. in photography and media studies. I also work part-time on campus, but considering summer vacation just started, I'll be an intern at a photo studio until late August.
