Dear healers,
these past weeks I have been exceedingly bored running content for my tomestones on Scholar. Not complaining though, nope.
I am a healer at heart and the party's wellbeing is my concern - I care for health bars and noobs alike. Elitists can go to hell though, seriously (Relic for AK... mumble mumble...).
Anyhow... I dared the impossible... I dared to do damage. O_O;
Quite honestly, it is much much much better than you'd imagine. Previously, I had to stand and wait for the health bar to drop significantly to do my job and make it go back up.... yay full bars!
*cough* BUT! I decided no... I don't want to do this anymore... I want to be more than the ordinary bar-filler!
SO I tried to use Cleric Stance and throw my DoTs around, even spread them!
I was able to do this even with badly geared tanks and no deaths whatsoever, since I got proficient at switching stances by now. I can do this the whole time, during bosses and trash and all is good.
It is SO cool I had to share it just in case you've never thought of it before.
It's like having a third DD in AK or you're making up for someone who'd otherwise ruin the run for you.
Oh and this happened: you can kill the wall just fine even if one DD falls off in the beginning and the tank jumps later on, 'cause he's a not a real Samurai (fighting to the death and such...).

TL;DR Try doing damage as SCH (or WHM, didn't try that) with your DoTs and spreading mechanic, it's fun and makes you feel badass. <3

I've tried this, and I thought I was doing considerable dmg, until I compared my own dmg, to a single DPS.
Wasn't even close.
In the span of 3 GCDs, I did roughly 5% of the dmg a single DPS did. (After all DoTs are on the target)
I still do it, but its not all that impressive in any shape, unless its content you're over geared for. -

I often dps as WHM on Demon Wall, and quickly turn off cleric stance just before the bees pop to heal through those. Depending on the fight, it's very doable to toggle cleric stance on and off and chuck in some damage, just need to make sure (as a WHM at least) to keep an eye on your MP (so no spamming Holy ;)) and obviously people's health bars. And anticipate the boss's attacks a little as well, considering they pretty much all have phases where they do heavy damage.
(Also, a lot of Samurai didn't fight to the death, especially the low ranking ones who didn't get paid enough for that kinda nonsense ;)) -

Why not just macro in clerci stance on, stone II cleric stance off. Simple. And works wonders, never needing to press that stance button manually. Here is the macro im using. And casting like a mad cat in runs ^^ Makes me feel more like an RedMage, I only miss that fencing sword and those refresh spells ;)

As a healer your dps isn't going to be impressive, but every little bit helps, and as long as the fight allows it, why not do some dps instead of just standing there picking your nose waiting for someone to get hit ;)

Same thing but it deals Damage to the target of your target now. SO you can keep your tank as the target, use the macro, deal damage to the tanks target and continue the heal without even switching targets. -

For both SCH and WHM, the damage abilities are there for a reason. If you aren't using them, you're not playing your job fully, but only filling your main function and nothing more. I don't have much experience from Coil yet, but at least up to that SCH and WHM should definitely DD in every single instance. MP shouldn't be an issue and healers should never just stand still waiting for HP bars to go lower when they can play their job more actively and effectively.
Unless you're new to 50 content or pre-50 and just learning the job, then it's of course best to start from healing and progress from there. :) -

If i fire off this macro and then notice the tank is having trouble i move to interrupt and tap the cure button, the move will interrupt anything that is about to cast and the cure will cancel out the macro's next spell.

I just go through Duty Finder CM and Prae runs in all AF and grey <50 gear and pretend to watch cutscenes while I get some water or tidy up to troll the OMG SPEED RUN GOGOGOGOGOGO zerg rush, then switch to my uber gear and out-tank the tank on the last boss. Makes my runs more fun. My sword, shield and belt are cobalt because 'like, my boyfriend is a crafter, he made them for me' and my jewelry is all garnet 'because it helps me do more damage so i can get more aggro, lol'

I always toss in dps as a healer during AK runs, especially early on in first boss fight on priest , wall because.. yeh who wants to only press medica every time he pushes. I do focus only on healing tho with final boss, because of that debuff on tank

Switch off Cleric stance, Leech -> Adloquiem -> back to Cleric Stance. Eos/Selene will heal the rest for you.Quote:

Also, if you have a BRD in your party, let loose the Foe Requiem, and Holy the three-mob group, or if your tank is brave, pulling two groups together. Brings them down fast. MP and hate won't be an issue when you pop a Shroud of Saints as well. I can do 900 Holies with Cleric Stance + Foe Requiem.
