Will you be mad if we slow you down?

I did CM for the first time last night as part of my storyline quest and I didn't realize it was a sped-run dungeon. I pretty much missed the whole storyline cutscenses just trying to keep up with the group. I think I was the only one that was new.

So would you be mad (those who are doing speed runs) if a new person comes in and says hey I'm new to this and would like to watch the cutscenses? I ask because on my next run, I'm going to ask if I can watch the cutscene because I missed it my first time around. I'm sure most have that are doing the speed runs have seen the cutscense at one point.

People are going to rage at you. They shouldn't, but they're going to. They'll probably even call you "selfish" for "holding up the group." I suggest making a group on your server if you want to watch cutscenes. Also, in case you didn't know, you can view all the cutscenes from dungeons in the Duty section of the book in your Inn room~

I've seen ppl shouting "CM for story, not for speed etc etc" i'm sure you could find 8ppl who want storymode CM.

IMO not the same immersion as watching in your INN vs during the instanced dungeon.

I say just watch them anyways. It's not like they can do anything more than cry about how they didn't join a premade instead of using the duty finder.

had some speed runs where 1 or 2 people were new, watched cut scenes, didnt care. just watched for them to be out to say "take the chute" or "use return". i'm not the type to think "omg, you owe me back those 10 minutes of my precious play time!!!"

Normally if you do it in the duty finder, it's not a big issue. I think the cutscenes are much better experienced as part of the content they're for. Fark them if they don't want you to watch it. If you want to, do it. Let them skip it. Worst thing that can happens is they'll wipe because they're too impatient to let you enjoy the game, and the best thing that can happen is they kill the boss while you're in the cutscene and you don't have to do a darn thing. :p

Nobody can stop you from watching cutscenes.

Its your game so if you want to watch the cut scenes watch the cut scenes if they rage on you... Then float with them till the end of the dungeon and go AFK and let them deal with the end boss... People need to learn respect and if they want to run fast thru the dungeon then they can party up with thier FC's... Finding people who want to run story is alot harder than finding people who want to run speed runs... I'm a healer so let people rage on me cause i wont heal a thing... Sometimes its better to take a stand then to lay down and get trampled

i agree with taking a stand to a point, as i have done so to some people who needed to tone it down in dungeons, but 1 afker on last boss of a cake walk dungeon won't harm a thing

If I am in that kind of a hurry, I don't expect people who randomly join a Duty that says nothing about "this is a speed run" in the info about the dungeon, to rush for me. I would let anyone watch the cutscenes and I would instead pre arrange a speed run with people who like speed runs. When SE decides to declare a dungeon -speed run only- and specs it in the info for DF, only then will I expect people who randomly join to be prepared to speed run. If people keep grieving players who want to watch cutscenes, I imagine SE will do something to change it eventually, something like a "this is why we can't have nice things" nerf.

No, I wouldn't care.

If you used the DF to enter, it's not a speed run. ♥

I wouldn't. They're not even that long. It's not a big deal.

You should watch them in instance anyway, its your right to, no need to skip. If they were going for speed runs, then they need to make a group that speedruns everyday or spam mor like everyone else does. Using df knowing new people may join it (the game launched not too long ago) and bitching is dumb.

If they are speed running they don't even need you. Watch them, if they rage then they have no business speed running so watch them anyway. Oh and ignore their rage.

this right here. so don't worry, only issue new people may have when watching cut scenes is getting lost, and i'm sure someone will give directions

If i knew there was someone new in the team who hadn't seem the cut-scenes before and they wanted to watch them, I'd stick my shoe in the door and make the team wait before the boss fights. If they still insisted on rushing on they'd have to do it sans healer.

If people are serious about speed running then there's always teams forming in Mor Dhona, Duty Finder is for PUGs

if they joined via duty finder, its their own problem. Someone joining via duty finder is not entitled to a speedrun.

Watch what you want to watch. The Duty Finder IS NOT the place for speedrun groups. End of story.

You're of the mentality that is most agreeable in this game... or any MMORPG for that matter. I applaud you. Not just for the fact that you're willing to cancel cutscenes, but moreso for what appears to be like you'd be willing to let others view them during the dungeons (if that were to come up).

It is selfish of the people that are raging more than the person watching them the first time they're in there. Watch your cutscenes and ignore the idiots. Put em on blist if they get offensive.

Those who want to do speed runs need to ask at the start..... if not they need to make there own group on there server to do a speed run.

If you did it through Duty Finder then you're well within your rights to take your time and just watch the cutscenes. If it was a local server group forming and they specified a speed run then that's probably not something you should do your first time going through it.

No it wouldnt borther me ... never has, never will. Its your sub, the content is there to be watched, if you choose to watch it its your right. Never bothered me in SWTOR, wont bother me here.

I say watch them, say youre new if they ask and if they start with their b/s just turn off group chat (let them know). Worse case scenario they drop group and waste more time waiting for the DF cooldown than just waiting for you to see the cutscenes. If they want a speedrun they should use /shout, not Duty Finder. Oh, and some might get smart and say they wont heal you ...... /shrug ... dont do your role either. Go AFK.

Plus most of the content can easily be beat with only 7 people.

You have been bullied.
DF runs are not speed runs, if someone wants a speed run he should find 7 more people with the same desire in MD and put up their own group.

It's your right to watch them as they come by, to enjoy the story as it was thought.

modern life is against taking the time to enjoy a lenghty CS or chat log, apparently we need to rush throught our hobbies too.

The solution to your problem is to not ask for their permission. If you want to watch the cut scenes then I encourage you to do so. If you join a group in the DF and someone proclaims that it will be a "speed run", that doesn't make it so. It is nothing more than someone expressing their intent.

The worst anyone can do to you is use angry words or fall back upon the much dreaded capslock.
