Suggestion: Target Lock with free camera

Id like to suggest an option to have target lock on but with a free camera not locked behind you. Id would be neato to be able to freely move the camera without it snapping behind or being limited while locked on.

Yeah, that would be good. I don't really use lock on because i don't like the camera being up my ass.

Just an idea of implementation:

Camera Options -> Focus Target on Free Camera: [on/off]

/focus [on/off]

This would give the player to focus its actions to the target even in free camera mode. In Lock-on mode it's obligatory, so there's no need to modify its behavior.

On a side note, I think that everybody has the right to have some things without a restriction. Anyway, I find it pretty useless, because if I have the camera sticking on the ass of my character (which is a nice view) I could simply zoom out the camera, and being able to see everything in another, very stunning perspective. Darn, you don't know the screenshots I do with the Lock-on technique =D

I agree with you and I do not use the lock function simply because the camera continually tries to fixate its position behind me. There are too many situations where a player may need to be aware of their surroundings in battle and even more so when being distanced from the main target where aggressive monsters are near your location or during the use of AoE skills.

And for everyone who has fought Prince of Pestilence (Poppy) or Barometz (Pinball), they pretty understand the situation.

Maybe we can go for a Camera Lock? So when you turn your camera while in Lock-on, the camera will not return to its fixed position. Like:

/camlock [on/off]

this is actually why i dont use the target lock feature. it needs a free camera angle option.

i do use the cam lock but im not against more options

target lock is nice but this camera locking to behind the character every damn time sucks, I move the camera with my mouse and it moves back no matter how much you try when you're in target lock mode.

Now if you're not in target lock mode you can move the camera but having other problems.

Not really related to this thread but when I was in free camera mode without target lock, when I move the camera with my mouse while fighting, then pressing the number on keyboard to perform action/abilities/magic in action slot... nothing happened, then I realized you have to click on the action bar with your mouse first in order to use the action bar again (set focus) or you have to press escape (release target) then press action key on the keyboard and it will perform the action... When the action key is out it should always set focus to that automatically (unless chatting) - Dev's already said on interview they going to make the action bar show up permanently so maybe it fixes this problem then.

what would be the difference from not being locked on to locked with a free camera?
I use a controler so it might be different for keyboard ppl.

After checking with the development team about whether it would be possible to implement a setting where you could turn target lock ON, but have camera lock OFF in the configuration, they said that they'll be addressing this along with the camera-related revamps, however, it will be in a patch after 1.18. :)
