Lack of FC's?

This is my first playthrough, I am nearly 50 now but I have yet to be invited to any FC's.
I haven't even seen any recruiting in shout either.
In fact, no one talks to me in game, at all.
Yet all around I see people, it's very unnerving.

Well actually I do know one guy but he seems to be busy doing his own thing and talks to me maybe once a week.

I'll probably end up going back to my old mmo at this rate, just because I have people there to talk to and do stuff with.

I remember seeing a lot of recruitment in there

I can never tell if some of these threads are legit or only to make a point. I do agree that there is little reason outside the dungeons to group with people but nothing is stopping you from striking conversation with anyone or interacting on any level with other people playing the game.

I think most FCs don't use recruitment messages because to some recruitment 'spam' is a turn off. I'd suggest just dropping a tell to somebody with an fc you find appealing (the GC affiliation, size, name, demographic) and make friends.

Hmm.. It may depend what server you're on. I personally see shouts often for FC's recruiting (Ul'dah and Mor Dhona.) What class are you? I'm not sure if it's an FF culture thing, or maybe just lack of interest. But i'm not sure if people will just go out of their way to just invite you without actually seeing your skill as a player. Unless it's strictly just something social.

I know Tera was MUCH different where if you were a Lv50 Lancer and didn't have a Guild name next to your name you were SPAMMED with invites. Regardless of your skill. I received dozens of invites daily. I'm not sure if that was what you were expecting?

1. Enter populated area.
2. /sh <job> LF FC (insert desired FC details).
3. Receive tells from FC members asking if you would like to join.
4. ?????
5. Profit!

Not sure where exactly people would be able to judge my skill unless they run an instance with me, but that would require some form of communication and possibly a party invite first.

So are you just standing idly by and hoping someone speaks up and asks you to join? Or...? I don't really see any effort from you.

Don't just wait to get invited, seek one out! There are many places to look, even a simple google search "hyperion FFXIV Free Company" will help find one that will meet your needs.

In my case the problem is FCs with massive people like 300+ etc. at that point all you are is a number without a face, it is for this reason that i detested being on leviathan, and decide to wait for server transfer as not a single one stood out over just being body piles, i would imagine it would be hard to organize anything with 300+ people if any such organization actually occured.

In your case however you're just simply being Anti-Social. And you probably should try to talk to people more, no one is forcing you to join a FC i mean linkshells are in fact the primary source of socialization in this game (or rather they should be since you can have multiple ones) So this is mostly a you problem.

I am questing and running instances, and whenever I see someone who needs a heal or a raise I help them out(normally without a thanks)

Most mmo's I've played random invites come flying at me from every side.

Why would you ever join a random chat FC instead of checking server forums for dedicated and organized FCs with a respectable FC leader and officers. Ones with a website, ventrilo servers etc.

Y'just gotta get your foot in the door! Look up a linkshell or free company via the boards, like others have said. Form a server party for a dungeon you've been wanting to do and talk it up!

Heck, the next time you use one of your many friendly neighborhood crafters and their services, you could even strike up a conversation with them! I know I'd enjoy chatting with my customers.

It could even be as simple as /poking random passersby. I mean, you're a lalafell after all. Their poke is viciously adorable.

You could take this as an opportunity to create your own Free Company and seek out and recurit the people that may feel the same way you do and maybe even create some new life long friends along the way.

Anyway, my advice would be to post in the forum for your server that you're looking for a FC. List the jobs you have leveled, and a bit about what kind of FC you're looking for. Might also want to check out any posts existing about the free companies that are recruiting. That's how I found my linkshell from 1.0 and I met a lot of great players :)

Other than the obvious suggestion to look in the right place on the forums, I'm not surprised that there isn't much random recruitment in-game. People use FCs to guild runs on end-game content. You don't want some random noob to gob up a static run.

The FC I'm in tests every single raiding member (exception for friends and family members). We'll take you on an end-game dungeon run (usually AK), and we'll just do stupid crap. The tank will pull too much (if testing a healer). The DPS will intentionally pull mobs (if testing a tank). The clear time will be graded (if testing a DPS). If you can't pass muster, you aren't invited. I doubt we are the only FC to do this.
