Fairy and Place?
So i just read up on other forums that apparently as a Scholar it's really important to use the place skill to place your fairy in another location during battle?.My main question is how does placing it in another location change the effectiveness of healing and also if it is important where is a good place to place them?. Is it just so that it's easier for the other players to target the monsters?.
I'm really sorry if this question or topic has already been discussed I've tread to search the forums but I've not had any luck finding the thread if it is already around =/
Thanks for your time and advice guys :D

It's not really important. Only big benefit it that if it's closer, it won't have to gap close to heal, but using the Pet purely for Tank healing is a little silly.

Oh no no i don't use my pet to tank heal i was just having a go at another SCH who did that the other day :P, but yeah i just thought if placing it in another location further helps with my healing then i should do it.

Eos's AoE abilities are pretty short range. If you want to hit your tank with Whispering Dawn and Fey Covenant, you need to Place her by the boss. Of course, unless you're also able to stand next to the boss, this bars you from receiving Fey Illumination... unless you care to alternate between using Place to set her by the boss and then hitting Heel to make her come to you, but that's a pain.

Ahhhhhh so if i use Selene ( i hardly ever use her now a days =/ was thinking maybe i should use her during normal runs and only whip out Eos for the boss? is that a good idea? or just concentrate full on healing?) i wont need to worry about placing? hmmmm to be honest whispering dawn is sort of useful i'm not sure if it's useful enough for me to waste time and worry about placing her though =/

I micro manage my fairy alot and have my fairy commands mixing in with healing and combat as it seems to work best for me depending on a given situation. ou
but to answer your question more clearly I find that the place ability isn't really a game changing thing for SCH (though it does have its benefits) unless you are in a fight that is heavy on tank heals, most of the time your fairy should be near you so the party can get its many AOE effects.
btw u can also use it to keep the fairy in a safe spot

they need to change the damned fairy AI in this game. Its so bad in the first place. That being said, place can be helpful in certain situations. I put them in the center of a group when i go into a boss battle to try to maximize the regen and buffs. as for the support fairy, you can sic it to a mob and it will auto silence abilities as its silence goes off CD, though this is rarely useful in a raid situation since most of the time they have multiple abilities that need to be silenced.

I don't place my fairy and it's seems just fine to me.

Awesome!! thanks for the advice guys i'll just try to place my pet next to the tank one time during a tank heal fight and see if it's better or not :D

1) Placing works great if there's no AoE to kill her, but as our pets die quite a bit, and recasting is relatively expensive (and time consuming if Swiftcast is down)
2) When doing move intensive fights (Garuda HM) placing becomes more of a P.I.T.A. than it is worth. It's much more effective to just move yourself and have her on follow.
3) If using AoE healing, you are going to be using Succor anyway, so you are going to have to move to the middle of the group anyway (to effectively hit everyone) so having her on follow is fine there.
The only 2 conditions I can see for placing her anywhere is add phases (to LOS the adds to make it easier for the tank) or fights where you have to be at max range from the tank and she might not heal the tank otherwise.

i think scholars should be able to control their pet while casting, or at least the place ability. it sucks that we have to stop casting, move the pet and then recast again. otherwise, the pet might die to an aoe. for example: hydra's ball of fire.
