Finding Other Uses for Guildmarks

I was thinking about guildmarks today while I was doing some leves when something occurred to me. What exactly would I do with my crafting guildmarks once I had purchased all my abilities? Purchase crystals? meh...

It stands to reason new abilities will eventually come out for purchase with guildmarks but what about until then? What other uses could guildmarks have? Could we use them to pay for use of facilities instead of handing the guy gil? Special, class specific gear/tools perhaps? I wonder if the devs already have a plan in the works for this as well.

I decided to post what I was thinking because I am curious as to what the community can come up with in regard to other ways we might be able to make use of guildmarks. Any thoughts?

I agree! IMO not only guildmarks but also beastcoins should be treated like real currency ingame. Obviously it wouldn't be accepted everywhere...the universal currency is gil so this is its role...but we could have access to some other options regarding guildmarks...even if its just an exchange corner so we can exchange it for another type of guild mark or certains specialized markets like guild shops...maybe one that sell class-specific equipment...

They should significantly reduce the amount of marks it takes to buy crystals to make it a worthwhile option.

Back during beta, I was disappointed that I couldn't spend guildmarks to buy special weapons and gear at the guilds.

I thought, "Not problem, this feature will probably be included in retail".

I'm still waiting.

I think the price for crystals should be lowered.
They should add shards.
And Clusters.


1 mark per shard.
30 per crystal
300 per cluster


that would make alot of sense.

If they did this, it would definitely make me more interested in using marks to buy crystals for sure.

1 mark per shard would devalue shards to the point where you may as well get rid of them. I think 5 for a shard and 50 for a crystal would be fair. You get marks so fast now since the change a few weeks ago. I'd happily spend 5k marks for 1k shards because I know I can get about 5k marks in two leve cycles, one if I'm lucky.

1 mark per shard is good enough IMO since only DoH have this option at guild and their mark gain is much slower than DoW/M/L ones.

let it devalue them more(though i dont think it will honestly)
the average person will buy all their abilities first before bothering with shards
so if they are still doing leves after itl help them level

Then why not just push for shards and crystals to be removed from the game so that we don't have to even go to the guild to get what will be pretty much free? Why not push for all those abilities to be free too, and why not push for SE to make all your crafts rank 50?

Give me another month or so and I'll have everything I'll ever want to spend a mark on. You can't tell me that giving me the power to push 20k shards per week into the economy isn't going to make them irrelevant to the point that they may as well not exist. I can't use anywhere near that many per week.

I don't think people are thinking this through, like almost everything else on this sub forum. You make shards a worthless item and you kill fishing and then you kill alchemy. Next you'll be complaining about how you have to go out and farm iron ores or buy them and how those should be sold for 1 mark too.

I'm bumping this thread for two reasons.

1. I currently have nothing to spend my guildmarks on besides the overpriced crystals as an Alchemist since I have all of the abilities and books.

2. 300 marks is too steep for a single crystal. If buying crystals is to be a valid use for guild marks, the cost needs to be reduced.


Give us a reason to continue collecting these marks SE. Mine are just sitting there being useless. Please and thank you.
