Please tell me something is going to be done soon about all this gold spam! I can't believe nothing was in place already to prevent this. I can think of three things off the top of my head:
1. Require level 5 before you can chat
2. Character limit on chats
3. Two lines of chat before there's a brief delay
Right now spam constantly scrolls through the chat window. I can't even see if real people are talking and having conversations! I doubt blacklisting helps much, because I'm sure these gold seller accounts are constantly being created every day.
Please, for the love of all the gods, stop the spam Square!

Yeah, it was pretty bad last night. LOL I don't even know how to chat yet, but I found the blist function pretty quickly.
One thing that has been mentioned was a quick click ignore function that allows one to click the name and hit blist quickly. One that I would like to see is an auto disconnect for anyone macroing a spam message more then say, 4 times. I'd actually like one that blew up their computer, but I think that would cause some repercussions. LOL -

Until 2.1 (and the hopeful fixes to this issue) you can always go into your chat functions and turn off /shout and /yell; I did a week or so ago. also for the /tell spam, this macro works wonders and pops up a confirmation window with the last tell's name so you can ensure its the right name first.

Chat problem fixed, no more spam, at least not at a fast rate, this will give people time to type the name into BL until click to BL is implemented. As it is now if a person is spamming you can't see their name long enough so you have to scroll chat and write it down unless you can remember it. (PS3)
As for the RMTs themselves in game mods would solve it. I can only assume SE is simply too cheap to go that route however.
Seems as how they ALSO know how to fix the RMT issues and haven't yet. -

BTW here a trick I have found to "easily" blacklist users on PS3:
- Select the ID in chat
- Send tell to it
- Edit the "/tell…." line adding brackets on the id (like "evil spammer") and change "/tell" in "/blist add"
It takes a bit but it is much faster than trying to remember the name of the SOBs! ^_^ -

Anything they do to combat it, RMT will find a way to work around it. They're nothing if not adaptable. If SE limits how often you can shout, they'll just make more characters so you have to blist 9 instead of 3.
The only way to stop it is a roving band of GMs who bounce from city to city on each server and ban shouters. Make random passes every day. -

Since maintenance the other day i havnt seen one rmt spam in chat (moogle server). Im still getting two or three tells aday though. Plus all the bots i reported upto three weeks ago are still active, if they got rid of the bots quicker i think there would be less rmt spamming.

If these guys have to buy a new account every time they advertise their site I think it would quickly become cost prohibitive. Essentially, each ad in chat would become the cost of the game. How often could they do that?
