Is Corsair in the making?

Reasons Why It Might Be:

• There is a Musketeer guild. (Musketeer implies guns, and Corsairs mainly used guns)
• The Musketeer guild is located in Limsa Limosa. (Limsa is a pirate town, and Corsairs are pirates).
• Some Limsa NPCs have gear set-ups that vastly resemble FFXI Corsair AF2 gear.

Reasons Why It Might Not Be:

• There has been no announcement of Corsair.
• Musketeer could simply go to a Ranger job or another variant.
• Corsair was a support/dps just like Bard (This would cause more "We want an actual ranged DPS" commotion).

What do you all think?
I mained Corsair in FFXI and would love to see it in the game. In fact, I would drop everything I'm doing just to play it. I believe that the Musketeer guild will go into Corsair, but I want to know what you all think.

The musketeer guild was from 1.0. It had nothing to do with the class, just storyline.
As well as it would fit in the lore I don't think you should be expecting it anytime soon. Simply because they announced the next three updates, which are generally three months apart and none of the mention new jobs. It is possible the third one has a new job or two but knowing SE they will wait until the expansion to release new jobs which as 3 months after the third update.

I wish they release Musketter already. I would reroll instantly

i think we will not see musketeer before they add a new class of the hand that will make gun. like tinkerer or engineer.

You mean a class like Musketeer? =P

i will say it differently, we will not see a class using weapon as complex than gun, cannon,.. before they add a crafting class for make them. and the most logical idea, is not before we reach the empire, where the technology is far more develloped than in Eorza.

To derail the thread a bit: Where did you get that information? Can you link it please? Thanks ahead of time.

the first expansion is normally for in 2 years, if the patch are every 3 month, it will lead to 2.8 before the expansion.
i recall yoshida saying that increase cap and new class will probably come ingame before the expansion.

No sorry find it yourself, its pretty easy to find using google. 1.1 1.2 1.3 expansion.

the interesting part is:

We already have roadmaps for patches 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3, so that’s about 9 months in advance, as well as, before leaving for PAX, we finished the main scenario for the next expansion, 3.0, and submitted it for review. So we have a lot stuff planned out. But within all that, we have spaces that we like to keep open, and that’s for when we get feedback from the community.

for the time it was into a live letter, the 7th or the 6th one. and he did say it will be in 2 years.

ps: we are in 2.0 for the patch. not in 1.0, this was for the V1, not ARR.

A: We definitely want to add more classes in future patches. For melee classes, I believe scout-type classes are somewhat lacking. By this I mean classes that can move around stealthily and attack from behind or steal items from monsters. The lack of magic classes needs to be addressed as well. We've received requests for ninja and samurai, especially from overseas, but we can't give out any specifics yet. Rest assured that new classes are definitely coming.

another note, i'm lazy hehe, he say: "add more classes in future patches" and not "add more classes in future expansion"
