Grand Company: Should I save my seals for a promotion, or buy gear?

Hi everyone. I couldn't post this in the gameplay forum apparently because my character level isn't high enough (23!?), but anyway...

I'm wondering if I should save my seals to constantly promote my rank, or if it's worth buying some gear first. I was going to buy the conjurer's cane, but thought I'd ask here first just to see what you all say.

P.S. It seems a little silly that the same currency used for gear is used for promotions. They should have made promotions depend on something else.

It's level 25 to post in general last I checked.

Personally, I'm using them on promotions. The gear isn't best at max level so I'm not too worried about getting it.

I'm not lvl 50 so i don't really have the experience but i think you should save them for promotions.
You change gear all the time at lower levels, and although the GC gear is slightly better than the others, it's not really worth it.

I'm spending all the seals I get on promotions as well. Apparently when your rank is high enough you can trade dungeon gear (the green and pink stuff from chests) for seals.

I keep getting mine capped, when you start doing fates at max lvl you'll get more than you need

the gear u get from quests are sufficient for you to progress through the contents, so unless u want the looks of the gc gear, there is no need to waste seals to buy the gear.

also, dungeons have a lot of good gear too.

generally there isn't much point getting gc gear unless you want the absolute best for everything lvl, but you lvl up fairly fast, almost too fast to warrant spending seals to get those things.

before hitting level 50 on my Bard I used the seals to get promoted as much as I could. After finishing the story quest I had enough seals to get promoted to the max rank we can and was able to buy a starting bow for my Bard. I also grabbed some of the low lvl jewelries and belt because I realized that their set bonuses are actually pretty decent. I did this because I preferred levelling the old fashion way through dungeons and quests. Didn't really do any fate grinding, I fall asleep on those.. extremely boring to me lol

After that I decided to start levelling my Leatherworking and I used those seals again to buy some gear for that. There are also scrolls that help you level your Desciples of Hand/Land.

Pre-50: Focus on using them for promotions.

Level 50, pre-Praetorium: Upgrade any gear you can to Level 44 variants. Otherwise, save them up.

Level 50, post-Praetorium, pre-Ifrit weapon: Get your Level 50 GC weapon, and farm Ifrit Hard Mode.

Level 50, post-Ifrit: Save them to buy those manuals for crafting/gathering.

I think it is worth it to take the plunge on GC gear if it is your second or third class. Without the main storyline your leveling pace is slowed down enough where having good gear for several levels means more, and the GC gear I have been using has lasted for a very long time due to high stats. Seals for at least the low level items are easy to recollect and only take a few FATEs or company leves.

If it is your first class I would say that it should be fine to grab a piece here and there if it is a significant upgrade, but definitely don't splurge or you will have to grind out seals for promotions later.

i just promoted to max then got all the bardings for achivement just stocking them til mayb next content update, would do the armour achivement but waste of seals atm :p

Supply & provisioning missions generate seals at pretty good clip as well. I can make about 2.5K a day if I do all eleven with HQ items.

lvl 49 fates gives 250 each I think

I should point out that I do these eleven missions with my highest DoL (Miner) and higher DoH (Goldsmith) at 45, and the rest rather lower, average level around 25. Missions at level 50 should produce about 600-700 each for an HQ item.
