Auto Targeting, What happen to it?

What ever happen to the Auto target they had in the game?

It was great if you were attacked by 2 or more mobs it would go to the 2nd mob after you killed the first one. Not sure why they took it out of the game. I liked it, it helped when you were in a big party. Auto target was great, bring it back.

I dont remember that in this game at all. I remember being frustrated that there was no auto target seeing as how helpful it was in XI.

It was literally in the game for 1 day, just like the permanent retainer thing they had in not to long ago. Must have caused memory leaks and they're probably fixing it.

Plus it was really glitchy.

It was really gimmicky and was removed a day or two after. I'd imagine it would come back with the battle system overhaul.

Cant remember but was Auto Target a Tanaka or early Yoshi-P addition? I'm fairly certain that was before the regime change.

Yes - it was before the regime change. I think we had it for some time between late Nov & mid-Dec patches or somewhere around there.

Ahh.. So theres a chance that it might have fallen off the radar. Hopefully we get a dev/most post saying that it'll be back.

^ is probably the response we're gonna get. I feel like thats a macro. Just gotta edit the part in brackets.

I like the targeting system we have now but... Its glitchy also. If i have it on Friendly it still targets Enemy. If i have it on Enemy it still targets Friendly. It seems to do this more often when i'm doing a Guild Leve.

I loved the Auto Tageting they had, ya it was glitchy at times but hay sometimes it worked..lol. I would love for them to bring it back. When it worked it was great and when it didn't work, well its just like what we have now....

Not at all, believe me, I understand what you're saying. But I hope you, and everyone, realizes that we do read everything and try to get responses and updates as much as possible. I'm sure reading the same type of response can get tiresome (especially when its vague), but I feel its important that we try and keep everyone as up-to-date as possible even if it's not with 100% set in stone details.

There are times of course where we can't get details on things because it's still early in the planning process, or even evaluation process, but I think it's useful that the community be made aware of what is going behind the scenes when we can do it. So you guys keep up the discussions, and we'll keep striving to keep you in the loop.

I agree with you, anyways thats how i feel. I bet you guys would love to give us details but you can't. Somethings like you said are not done or SE would like to keep some details untill release. For me thats cool, i bet their are so many things SE is planning that we have no idea of and i for one cannot wait.

On another note Yoshi said he's going to update the Game callender of stuff their doing. I think it was in his 2nd letter of what they were working on and progress of them.

perhaps you could add a priority gauge to each forum topic. say for instance green means this is being worked on right now! and red meaning stop bugging us about this we aren't working on it at the moment. I really enjoy when the topic is "tell us what you want to do about this situation". this way, perhaps you can get the feedback you need, when you need it. and not have to concider alot of outdated posts, that possibly aren't even a concern any more. so if you would just post what items you want feedback on! we would be more than happy to list our current ideas and concerns. otherwise alot of us will just keep overlooking the forums without much information for you.

Sorry for the blonde question, what you guys mean by auto target? Like the Auto switch over when killing multiple enemies? (in which cases most of the time in end game you hsve it ofdf anyway)

Or when you click an enamy you have it targeted and it is easier to fight in?

Instead of mashing 1 key which is your regular attack, it does it for you at a delayed speed depending your weapon

that is auto attack..... And I never ever mashed the 1 key. And tbh i do not care I'm an old school rpg player we do not need auto attack
:P button mashing was been part of gaming since donkey kong. (the OLD one with jump man aka mario (who was a carpenter in that game)

Anyway.. I hope you rally reply to my question since auto target is coined differently by various ppl.

Auto-attack= instead of pressing 1 to attack the mob that button no longer applies all you do is engaged the enemy and it attacks on its own. Once you get enough TP for a move thats is where other buttons come into play.

Also Im in Besaid too if you looking for a LS my name is Starlord Ravine, Leader of Eorzean Knights =)

Currently rebuilding it because 90% of the LS left due to the state of the game, Im sure they'll be back once the game becomes enjoyable to the Majority =)

i guess your tired high or drunk, (not insulting you just being sarcastic in a "i'm to tired to care" way) The topic is about auto TARGETING. Not auto ATTACK. As was my question.

ps my sug is not actuarate and just use it to show I play. My real character is a secrete.

Oh, lmao I read that topic totally wrong :o my bad, Yes Auto "Targeting" is when you defeat a mob and if another mob is currently attacking you or the party, after you defeat the original Monster you will be automatically switch over to that other attacking monster. Thats the only way I can best describe it. lol

ps: Yes I am tired considering its almost 5am and apparently I missed an important word that embarrassed myself in the end >.< lol. and thats cool I just thought I throw in the offer :P

yea, bring that stuff back, and at the same time give us some /assist :D, i miss the use of macros, and also it can get hard following the lead when there are many other monsters around, like when different groups clash together in one spot doing the same levequest.

ok. :) Like I said I wasn't sure which ppl meant. Idk if it in game or not. There will be times to turn it off or on like behest etc. So chamges are ppl gonna have it off most of the time.

I'd rather get auto targeting instead of waiting for said mob to hit you first to insta target it.

And for the love of....can we get <stpc> and <stnpc> macro targeting put in? I don't care for switching lines to access my next keybinds, I'd rather macro access it instead. Not being able to <stpc> my cures makes me :(

It was in the game and then they came out with a new patch which would make the auto target sometimes glitch and target party members. It didn't happen most of the time though, I would rather have the bug than be without auto target :(

I still occassionally get a glitch at the end of a fight where the game will randomly target a party member that doesn't even make sense to target. I mean, at this point, I expect to have my healer targeted when everything dies (annoying, but true). When the game decides I need to be targeting the ARC, though. . . yeah, no idea what's up with that.

yeah Bayohne, I feel a lot of people are still not realizing that not only was there the EQ ,and still a Nuclear situation which just got bad again, and then golden week; but the fact that there's ur new team and leadership that means a lot to go through for them to get caught up to speed on so they can begin to plan changes. Even I feel impatient because not including you guys the past stubborn leadership of the project alone makes tons of us impatient. I fully believe if the entire system is revamped top to bottom (As has already happened) but then next the game; it needs a complete rebuild almost (which you guys are doing) this I think in the end will easily pick the players back up. I just worry that with a very large string of mega releases in mmo's will be coming out right when you guys are gunna make your biggest announcement. (which still makes me worry for the state of the game even then after being fixed).
However ty for always keeping us updated; people just need to know where to look to see it...(it happens far more then people realize on this lvl)
