So. Castrum Meridianum. Final boss, cannon phase. Most people insist everyone fire at the same time, and freak out because every single time it fails.
"How tough is it to follow a countdown?" Well, it is a bit tough if people don't set a standard on how countdowns work. As far as I see it, there's at least 3 different options:
- A person says "3,2,1" and you are expected to fire at the moment they SAY "FIRE!"
- A person says "3,2,1,FIRE!" AFTER which you are expected to fire.
- A person says "3,2" and then you are expected to fire when you assume the "1" is arriving, without anyone even planning to say "FIRE!"
I have had all 3 of these happen.
So, set a standard, or tell your countdown method beforehand, mkay? :)

There's one more where all the cannons are loaded and no one counts down :D I've been to those before. Mostly I prefer one of the tanks to count or just anyone who is just standing there and not aiming. Sadly I've been in runs where I had to type fast and then shoot / aim and shoot. If I'm the one typing I just say aim then fire. (Em a DPS) :>

This rarely happens in the groups I play in. O_o We do load all cannons first, but simultaneous firing is luck based due to client-server-client latency, you kinda need VOIP (which I can't use) to have any reasonable precision.

When I've run it with our FC, we had the WHM holy the boss to stun her, which was the cue for everyone to fire.

There's always someone with an itchy trigger finger who fires too early, the boss aggroes, the valiant sniper can't be arsed to run to the middle, the other 3 cannons miss and the 'lol noobs how cud u miss' drama begins. Might as well just fire at will, assuming your attention span allows you to watch for a few seconds and make sure the boss isn't about to move.

There would be a lot of ways to easily fix this. :D Just wondering why nobody does. Haha! Though the funny part is.... I have never lost to that phase anyway, regardless of how poorly the shooting goes. Just thinking of the poor people who freak out so easily. ^.^

Person with aggro sits in the middle. Fire canon at person in the middle. Switch places when you get aggro.
