I do hope we hear something on transfers soon. Originally, announcements were supposed to come mid-September. Here's October and I haven't seen anything.

My entire FC and I simply rerolled on a new server rather than wait for transfers that we knew would be delayed, and then were.

Hi,

Actually, i have to agree with OP. I was wondering myself yesterday, why the server transfer is still not possible, as it was originally stated, that this will take place mid-september.

Hoping for an update from official side ..

You could always roll an alt there just until transfers are available.

I don't need a transfer myself, but it would be nice to see some official word on when they're going to add them. ^^

Lots of hours into ours too. 50s with darklight and a couple with relics, but we still rerolled.

Easy to just take things into your own hands than wait for something promised.

All the people saying reroll on your friends server: it's easy for you to say. Would you like to start again from scratch? After putting so much into your character? I wouldn't.

Well that is exactly what my mates and I did. It's not even hard in this game.

Probably a stupid question but here goes. I made a character on Gilgamesh because my friends and I had plans to play on that server, so I made sure to secure the character name i wanted early on. Since I am 100% sure that somebody else already has that name, on the server (world) I want to move to, does that mean if i want to transfer that I not only have to pay, but also have to rename the character a different name? O.O

The reason why there's no server transfers yet is cause the server population hasn't stabilized yet. Once the free trials expire, that would weed out the freeloaders and stabilize the population. But, I still won't count on transfers this soon.

Good for you and your friends but everyone doesn't have the same amount of time to completely re-do their characters.

I hope the server transfer is introduced soon, I have some RL friends on a different server because they wanted to start playing even though they couldn't make a character on my server at the time. I wouldn't ask them to re-do their characters even though some of them aren't even 50 yet.

No doubt it will work just like every other MMO ever, and you will be required to rename your character should you transfer to a world where that name is already taken. The name change will, of course, be free.

Yes, if you move to another server and another player already has the name you will have to rename your character. You can create an alt on your server of choise to lock the name if its still availeble.
Makes sense doesnt it.

Not everyone has the same amount of time to play as you. My husband is stuck on a server away from me and our friends. He gets an hour to play a day if he is lucky, sometimes only half an hour. It'd take him ages to reroll so I don't blame him for not wanting to. It's kinda sad we never got to level up our main classes together but at least in this game we can level another class together later I suppose.

Than apparently your character is more important than your friendship. Either re-roll or wait. If you're not gonna pay, then find a new game. The way the game currently plays, a lot of people can get multiple classes to 50 in 30 days so I see no problem catching up with friends. I'm growing tired of the "I'm not gonna play anymore," or "Square Enix is gonna lose a lot of money," crap. If you can't be patient you shouldn't be playing an online game. And why should players care whether Square Enix loses money? It's up to them on whether to prioritize what may or may not bring them success.

Yoshi-P made a post about the upcoming World transfer service a few hours ago. The translation will be available soon but we can already tell you that upon the launch of this service, the first 5 days will be free.

The World transfer service will start in the first half of this month.

Might want to change where it says "mid-September" on the mogservice then...unless you've already done so. This morning it still said mid-september

Nope, still says mid-September. What do you expect when they can't even update their website. It's always add 5 days to 6 months with whatever SE promises.

No offense, but server transfers are barely starting to matter. The 2 friends of mine that got stuck on servers away from our friend group haven't logged in for nearly a week. For them, the spell is broken and I doubt I'll be able to bring them back.

For your friends perhaps it may not matter much anymore.
I wish them the best in whatever they decide to do after this if they truly decide not to come back and give this game another chance.

For many others, this is great news and I am pretty sure the 5 days of free transfers is a very welcome consolation, but the important part is that people have an answer now.
