2 Job System - Thoughts/Ideas

The way most people are playing the game, you wind up putting 30 points into your primary stat (ie. as a monk I put 30 points into strength, paladin 30 points into vitality, etc.). This would be fine, but arcanist has 2 jobs. This doesn't bode well with me, seeing as that as I understand it the 2 job system will eventually work will all classes. This system effectively pigeon holes you into one job or the other.

Just for the sake of idea proposal here is what I'm suggesting as an alternative. How about adding the 30 stat points from leveling onto your job crystal, where stat boosts are at already, and you gain the 30 points over the course of 20 levels on that job from 30-50. That ensures that the stats aren't lost, but apply to you only while on that job. In this method you would be able to play both jobs that expand from one class without having to have 10k GC seals on hand whenever you want to switch your 30 stat points.

if I were SE, I would make that you can only have Scholar OR Summoner Crystal because you can lv both of them to 50 without even touching the other Job and w/o knowing how it works. I'm SMN 50, never touched SCH and I'll probably never will because I learned to play has a SMN, did my Duty on SMN. If i really want to ply a healer then I'll play WHM like I'mn doing atm.

I know many ppl won't agree with me but.. Would you eally want to be main healed by a Sch lv 50 that never really played that job? I know I wouldn't

You have to do quests as a friggen Scholar to get Scholar powers. I mean your same argument could be for not wanting a scholar healer at 30 I mean they just spent 30 levels dpsing they clearly can't figure out how to heal in such a short time.

Seriously getting to 50 doesn't mean crap about knowing how to play a class. I'm regularly seeing Darklight full people who don't know how to play their class in DF.

I'm well aware that you need to do SCH Quest to get their Ability, I've done those but does it mean I know how to play SCH? Not really... And any good Arcanist will help with Healing pre-LV 30, even a good SMN will pop a few Physick to help the main healer when it's needed so my earlier argument doesn't apply in those situation. I'm talking about the Dongeon mechanic of the SCH, I saw a lot of SMN wannabe SCH that don't even know that SCH is a DMG mitigation job in high lv Duty.

Honestly what square should have done was had the primary classes stop at 30 and had jobs be unique class unlocks, this would have allowed them to create very unique playstyles for each individual Job. Not to mention a much larger variety of weapon styles to play with.

Leveling my Arcanist I was extremely concerned with the distribution of my stat points. At cap you find it is less meaningful (note: not meaningless)

I went SCH chose MND. I didn't respec my stats from INT 'til roughly 40 however. I noticed a difference, but it was slight at most.

If you went 15/15 split, then you wouldn't really notice the difference. PIE is interesting because it's the one stat that helps both tjobs. Aetherflow is based on a percentage of your max MP & means both a stronger initial MP pool as well as sustainability

I fully acknowledge that I am still end-game-illiterate, so my theories are based on a smaller view of the bigger picture.

First, I agree as we get multiple jobs there could be a valid reason to let jobs reset abilities not just classes. I was worried also at first and had plenty of items to reset traits, played with it. I found out a few things.

First is that I'm able to perform my tasks as a SCH even with my points in INT, though I see a difference I am still able to heal in endgame not including coil.

Second, I found that I can gear SCH differently than WHM as a healer (terms of melding) and perform fine, allowing me to put my points in INT and play SCH on an equal level if I had all MND on it.

Finally, I've found that a lot of people love all these jobs if not most. Yet will go to other jobs to break the mold I do that on SCH, but I always find myself defaulting to WHM. I'm sure that will be the case as we add more and more jobs. I'm not justifying the point separation I'm just finding it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

On a side note, I can see the reason behind it, you want individuality in the game. One way to do it is make someone choose between two choices. It might not be the best concept as a player but it could very well make someone choose to heal as a scholar and then go out dps as a bard for ranged rather than a jack of all trades thing, or people able to go all one set up, rather this way you have someone who goes "I'm a ???" making you have to adjust your party mechanics in some way. Now i'm just rambling, anyways I hope to find an even ground and see what they have planned for us later when they release more jobs.

If you take the time to look at each class, you can see different play styles, different uses. I for one like the idea of a "this or that" option. It means that you have to decide how how the story plays out. When i use arcanist do i want to attack or heal..do i want the be a reactive healer or a proactive healer...do i want to tank the boss or all the boss' minions. slow attack or fast attacks. Would you rather someone know a lot about a few jobs, or knows a little about them all?
