Need Help Understanding Gathering Stats

There doesn't seem to be a general stat cap for gathering or perception points, however the effectiveness seems to be capped.

My BTN has 342 Gathering, 328 Perception. (Shared materia accessories only)
Min has 359 Gathering, 345 Perception. (Full Materia)

They seem to be capped at 90% success rate for most of the gathering despite having difference in gathering. Even with HQ Tomato Pie I'm only getting 90% Success/95% (crystals).

Perception moves up so I guess i'm not hitting that cap yet.

I didnt know that, i would also like to know more.

Do any of the developers have a blog about the in game mechanics or some of the general math behind the game. I know a lot of developers share the basic inner workings, but there are a lot more who prefer to keep these things secret :-(

Curious, but what are you using to hit 320+ perception?
