Please impose a minor chat limit and throttle!

Just two limitations that have no effect on anyone who isn't a spambot.
- 100 characters (spaces included).
- Can only send a message in /shout or /yell once every 5 seconds.

No human players have any need to send single messages above that theshhold and that frequently in /shout or /yell.

It will be much easier to blacklist and report spambots when people don't have to try to freeze their chat pane and manually scroll up/down due to a message twice as big as the chat window being spammed literally every single second.

Simple. Effective. Do it.

I would like to see an auto-matic spam prevention system for posting the same thing in any public chat window (or tells) more that 3 times in a row. :D

Yes, please! Some of these RMT spammers are posting like once per second. Why should anyone be allowed to do that!?

I'd also add:

- In addition to the 5 second cooldown on Yells/Shouts, repeated Yells/Shouts within a certain time frame will increase that cooldown. You can do a Shout every 5 seconds for a while, but if you do this consistently it becomes 10 seconds, then 30 seconds, then 2 minutes, etc. Attempts to Yell/Shout while the cooldown timer is still going will stack more time on top of that. At a certain mark, these characters are automatically flagged for GM investigation.

- Any character who appears in X number of blacklists is automatically flagged for GM investigation.

- Blacklists are per account, not per character (If my main blacklists someone, why the heck would I want my alt to hear from them!?)

- Deleted characters automatically disappear from blacklist, rather than stay there as (DELETED)


And, not related to chat, but related to bots...

- For Mining/Botany, randomize the placement of what resources you attempt to mine in the pop-up window. Fill empty spaces with harvestable "trash" items that are worthless, or even damage your equipment. That way, it takes a conscious human being to recognize what it is they are doing.
(Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, they could have a smaller, but similar in concept, window for each Shout you do. Have to click the correct icon for Shout to go through..? If this is too inconvenient for you to bother with, your Shout probably isn't all that urgent anyway)

Bots already circumvent this, but posting a few random letters/numbers at the end of each Shout.

I actually rather like that the (deleted) shows up. At the least I can tell if any progress is being done. Or it could just be the RMTs themselves deleting the characters to make new ones...eh...

Max messages sent per minute is used in other games, and seems to work.
No reason to be spamming shout in any case.

You're missing the point. The throttle means it would be very easy to pick up the spammer and blacklist them. You can't do that very easily when the chat window scrolls 2-5 window lengths EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND.

... wut? What are you manually typing in the names of the spammers? LOL... oh gosh... When someone is spamming just right click and send them a /tell ... copy their name from there and paste it into the blacklist.
