Are there any settings that can be adjusted or disabled in order to improve visual performance on the PS3? I'm just trying to make it playable - right now the fighting framerate is next to intolerable.

In character configuration > character there are options to alter the battle effect settings. Own/Party/Others Show All/Show Limited/Show None. There also settings for 'Effects While in Motion' which can be switched off. Not quite sure what this one does!
