Connection Error, can't get past Play

I tried to log in this morning, put in my details, and everything goes fine. Then, once I click the play button, I get this error:

Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://frontier.ffxiv.com/arr_win/news.html. Operation aborted

Then, once I click okay I get a second error:

A system error has occured: -2147467260.
http://frontier.ffxiv.com/arr_win/news.html

After clicking that, the launcher just shuts down.
I don't use internet explorer as my main browser, and this only just started happening this morning. Anyone else have similar problems? Any work arounds?
