Crafter Gather Dungeons
This idea is to help with the high cost of Animal Fat, Coke, Pot Ash and peacock Ore. The primary method of obtaining these items is through battle classes that can partake in the various dungeons to earn tomes required to purchase materials. Since crafters are the primary users of these materials it would make sense if they had methods to obtain these tomes without the help of battle classes. So the following idea of a crafting instanced content comes to mind.
Crafting Gathering Dungeons
4 ~ 8 man content in which the crafters and gathers must form a party.
Example party
Blacksmith x1 Armorer x1 Miner x2
Weaver x1 Leatherworker x1 Botanist x2
Objectives
Players must craft the tasked items within a certain time limit to open new sections of the dungeon up. These sections will be navigated by the gathers to obtain new materials for the crafters to make the next set of items. Crafters would need to work together to create the required parts to fulfill the objectives. While gathers must avoid dangerous monsters to obtain the needed materials.
Instances would request unique items that would span multiple crafting classes.
Requested items would be exclusive to the instance and be removed upon exit.
Gate requirements would request these items to proceed further into the instance.
Rewards
Allagan Tomes of Philosophy
Unique crafting exercises and gear

Reserving space for feedback summary...
Hope to hear from crafters and gathers if this idea is desirable.

You're talking about items and experiences that are far ahead of anything I'm ready for (my highest crafter is only 18ish), but anything that expands on opportunities for crafters/gatherers gets my attention. In particular, I love the idea of crafters/gatherers working as a team to create unique items.
Here's your Like :).

This is an awesome idea. I do not like dungeons, so it's great alternative for more crafter based players. I would even be for dropping receipes there etc...
-
Awesome idea, reminded me of Hamlet Defense in 1.0 except this time we don't care about stupid DoM/DoW classes. :)
+1!!!!!!!!!!!

This... is actually an awesome idea. Items that the crafters would need to craft should also require other subcomponents crafted by other classes present - this way there needs to be more communication on the order of crafting/gathering etc. I like it!
And of course, ANY more content for DoL/DoH is very welcome. Considering how complex the crafting system in this game is, it would be a shame not to build upon it.

Thanks guys i'm glad you like the idea. I feel like it really help balance out the economy surrounding the endgame crafting items while offering some really fun alternatives to the crafting gathering community.
Some general ideas for a dungeon could be.
Crafting a cannon and ammunition to clear mobs for the gathers to progress further into the dungeon.
Crafting keys and or various artifacts that can be used to open gates, doors, passages.
Gathers having to use stealth efficiently to get past mobs.
Crafters creating items for gathers to use like sleep pots (aggro would be lost upon distance)
I really like the ideas of subcomponents and new recipes dropping! Keep the ideas coming :)!

Gotta disagree with the concept. The current system isn't an oversight or bad design--it's intentional. It creates both synergy and a market between DoH and DoW/M.
This concept follows the modern MMO mentality that "I should be able to do/get anything no matter how I choose to play the game." (Note: I'm not saying this is the OP's motivation, just that it follows a trend.) The simple fact is that you already can get these items, you just have to get them from other players who play the game differently than you do.
Many MMOs have tried to create group/raid crafting content, but for the most part it's been pretty lame. While I do think SE could do better than some of the other devs in creating this system, I don't expect them to ever attempt it.

Would like to see a raid where you can take some crafters with your team of DoM and DoW, depending on the crafters, certian optional challenges or things can be unlocked or used to assist in battle. Dynamic objectives occurs when maybe the Raid team has to protect the couple crafters working on repairing the door while the Miner with a scout type class is out trying to obtain the nessecary aether crystal for the final repairs or something. :P

I think this is a brilliant idea OP! Would definitely love to see content like this in game.
