Automatically rooted during melee combat

Hi,

I have level 15 Gladiator and have an annoying problem during combat. Whenever, I enter combat I am rooted in place and cannot move forward or backward. When strafing left and right my character circles the mob I'm attacking.

As it now I am unable to move the mob but instead locked in place toe2toe. Is there a UI setting to turn this behavior off?

Any help would be appreciated.

Disable automatic target lock in the character settings. I believe it is on by default, and causes such an issue.

I found it off by default and ticked it on because I love it. If I want to change the distance I just back up. With using a thumb joystick I can press for back and strafe at the same time which gives a lot of versatility of movement. But I'm a newb so that may change lol.

In character settings it's the top button of the correct page so if you don't see it change page.

You will find later that auto-lock will prevent you from backing quickly out of radial AoEs so you'll want to set a key to toggle it easily in key bindings.

Turning off the option worked. For melee being automatically locked into place without forward and backward movement was problematic especially for defending against AoEs.
