Is there another way to find out my party member's class/job besides examining them or guessing what they are by their icon? I haven't tried to remember icons yet..
ex. I look at my party in social list and it doesn't tell me what their role is besides an icon.

It's not hard to memorize the icons. The ones that confuse me are the non battle classes because you rarely see them in a party.
If you're really having trouble remembering them, just open up your own character's profile under 'Character' in the menu bar and click on 'Classes' - it lists every class and job with their icon and name.
Most of the class icons are pretty obvious if you remember what weapons they use, as that's all the icons (mostly) are - the mage ones are a little more obtuse however (like the celestial globe for ACN and a flaming urn for THM).
