Tanks and critical Hits

Hey all,

I'm not a tank, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I was wondering about getting critically hit as a tank.

I saw that Paladins have a skill that makes them unable to be critically hit, but its on a cooldown.

So I guess monsters can critically hit you?

Then I read all the horror stories about attacks doing like, 50-90% of your health.

Can those crit too? If they can, do you sometimes just immediately die?

Yes you can be crit, and no this isn't like WoW where you can gear for enough avoidance to have 100% chance to not be crit.

I don't think super moves have the ability to crit though. Moves that are designed to one shot you are just made to do more damage than you can have HP at that point in time.

As the previous poster stated, stuff like the Ifrit, Garuda and Titan cannot crit with their "ultimates". It would be just too random, especially considering that it would just be an RNG encounter, which I doubt SE intended to make it that way.

As far as I've been able to tell, the only attacks that can crit are the "basic" attacks. I haven't noticed Ifrit's fire breath and Garuda's slipstream crit, especially since, if they did, the followup melee would most certainly drop the tank, which is a kill from full in a single GCD.

Well thats at least a bit of a relief.
