So I've searched around and from what I've seen the guard macro should be
/ac "Guard" sub <me>
I have since tried this (and many other variations) to no avail, am I doing something wrong? Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think /ac "Guard" would be fine honestly, it's a skill that can only target you so I think it's understood. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you only need to specific a target when it is possible.
Nope, didn't work, I tried adding sub to it as well before or after the "Guard" input nothing seems to work. I've seen older videos and posts of people's macros but they no longer seem to work :( Anymore suggestions?
I have a working guard macro, give me a sec to log on and check what it is.
EDIT: I use
/ac "Guard" <me>
and it works fine. It's so much better than worrying about leaving a spot on the main action bar for Guard.
I played with a guard macro, and ended up ditching it :-/ I'm getting to where I have used abilities on all 3 action bars- so the default "Guard" is going to be there anyway. Also, the Macro palettes are slow & sticky- then I get all emo and rage mash CTRL (>"<;
Holy crap that worked! Weird because I swear I tried /ac "Guard" <me> but apparently not! I plan to make a longer macro for multiple guards that pops after my shield lowers so that I only have to worry about pressing it every minute or so as opposed to every 10-20 seconds depending on my shield (currently 13 seconds I believe).
Thanks again REDace0 for the working macro and everyone else for their input
honestly you're guard will be up without you needed to make a 'longer macro' once you get deflection because aegis / deflection automatically put your shield up. So then all you would need is a command inside your sentinel macro that forced your shield up.
ex:
/ac Sentinel <me>
/ac Guard <me> ( don't need '/wait' in between it)
why cant guard be a passive class trait instead. I think it is just silly you have to activate it ever so often.
because its amazingly OP in terms of damage mitigation.. if it was passive it would basically just make it easy mode where anyone; even those with less than half a brain could tank. In a game that doesn't offer any real challenge yet.. seems a little extreme to ask for it to be passive.
