Turning off effects

I'm a dragoon and my rotation requires me to hit the enemy from the side, then from behind. But in dungeons it really gets hard to see how the mob is positioned. In 4man dungeons i can just look at the tank and depending on where he stands I can judge the position of the mob. But in 8man dungeons it's impossible. There is so much going on on the screen so many, effects, bright lights, flashes. I can't even see the tank, let alone the mobs position. I can't see ANYTHING. I'm playing on a PS3 and haven't found the option to turn them off. Maybe I didn't look well enough? Is there such option? If not, what am I supposed to do?

I'm on PS3 and I've turned it off for me. Press start to bring up the menu. Go to System. Then Character Configuration. Tab over to Character with R1. Under Battle Effects Settings select Show None for Party and Others. That should do it.
