Do the egis do elemental damage with their abilities? The help text doesn't mention any elemental aspect, but I'm wondering if their attacks are fire/wind/earth based, and if they thus benefit from bard's magic resistance down song.

Even if they are, they may not even work. Bard's own elemental attacks do not get buffed by requiem so it's even possible that requiem doesn't even work.
Elemental attacks aren't even in at this point of combat nor is it a factor atm. Combat is separated into two classes: Magic and Physical. Requiem buffs any magic damage supposedly, but not physical.
So is Requiem even buffing BLM attacks?
well the poster above just stated that bard's own attacks with an element (assume he's referring to Windbite, and that AoE ground attack, but the tooltip on that doesn't actually say fire damage I don't think) aren't affected.
Elemental resistances do exist and are a factor, but it's much more minor than it was in 1.0. What yoshida was going on about is that enemies won't have high resistance to specific elements based on the elements they use or what element they appear to be "based" on. That's not to say that elemental resistance doesn't exist, because it does, but rather simply that, for example, ifrit doesn't take drastically less damage from fire spells just because he's the fire primal.Quote:

so the attack has to specifically do magic damage.Quote:
I can't say with 100% certainty. From what I've been told, requiem does affect damage, any magical damage. This includes BLMs or SMNs. However, it does not affect any physical damage even if it elemental like a monk's.
So the questions I would have then still are:
-do pets do magic or physical damage with their abilities? (Garuda has no auto attack, but i'd assume that ifrit/titan's auto attacks are physical regardless of whether the abilities are.
-do pets' abilities have elements? e.g. does hellfire actually do fire damage, or not? None of the tooltips specify.
and it would be the first question that determines if the pet's attacks are affected by this or not.
