FFXIV Won't start up HALP!

To Whom this May Concern,

I really want to play FFXIV but it seems I cant because the game wont even start up from windows. When I try to start it, it proceeds to says, "FFXIV has stopped working" and then cuts of after window's fruitlessly looks to solve the problem. I have a G73 Asus Laptop and I know it can run it, I just don't know what could be stopping it from loading. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time! PS: I have tried to uninstall and install to no avail.

What video card and driver do you have? I had to play around with driver versions to get mine to work.

I am having the same problem, the only difference is I have been playing ffxiv since beta and have not had a problem, I also successfully played the game last on May 1st and all of a sudden I cant play.

The system alows me to login and click play but when it tries to go into the screen to select characters it automatically give me a error of
"Final Fantacy has stopped working windows is checking for a solution"

the windows tries to find a solution to the problem and of course does not find one and I get another messege
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

Uninstall your graphics driver
Run Driversweeper
Install the latest driver package

If you have onboard video (Intel HD?) make sure that it is disabled. FFXIV may be trying to use that instead of your real card.

Please post your full system specs.. open FFXIV config, hit the system button, then copy to clipboard. Just like koryanders.


@ Koryanders: Please create your own thread so your specific problem may be addressed. It's very unlikely that the solution to your issue will be the same as the OP.

From that information I can discern that your current graphics driver is 2 years old. So an update should do the trick.

Get it from the AMD site, not windows update.

I tired updating the AMD graphic driver, no luck....any other ideas?? Maybe I downloaded the wrong one??

You may just need to do the individual download of CCC. But I don't use ATI, so I honestly don't know for sure. In any case, when you say "no luck".. what do you mean exactly? Repost your system specs so we can tell if you installed the driver properly or not. And be sure to restart your computer afterwords.

Also use driversweeper after uninstalling and before reinstalling.. like I said before. It probably won't work if you don't.

I updated the drivers I think, I cant Driver sweep seems to be discontinued from what I see on the website.... FFXIV still wont play hmm...
